He overachieved IMO so far this season! He was eliminated by Novak in his last 3 Majors so he was bound to be upset sooner or later! :anxious-face-with-sweat:
Meaning if Novak can beat him, anybody can?

Fognini brought in the good Fog, and took the 1st set 6-2 over the Greek. Can he keep it up?

Anyone seen Jenson Brooksby play? How's his game? He seems to have just appeared out of nowhere this year, with a nice showing at the US Open and going deep in a couple ATP 250s. He took a set off Zverev here at Indian Wells. He turns 21 in a couple weeks so is young, although not so young that his rise should turn heads. But all of a sudden, he seems right there with Korda as the highest upside Americans.

We'll see if he can keep it up! Like Courier, his game seems to center more with his intensity and is too emotional on court IMO! He obviously has some ability, but not sure he'll channel it in the right way later in his career! It was why Jim disappoeared inexplicably in '96! :exploding-head::sick:

I talked about this a bit (Courier) in my latest installment of the "mega-thread."

Well, Medvedev turned into a UFE machine when he practically had this match in the bag. Now Grigor serving for it at 5-1 in the 3rd.

But not so fast...Grigor looks gassed and maybe cramping. Dani got one break back. Let's see if he learned something from losing to Nadal when he was serving for it at 5-1 at the YEC a couple of years ago. EDIT: Nope...Grigor completes the comeback. Medvedev will have much to think about. Pretty much everyone on the draw challenge picked Medvedev to win it all at IW. (Except me...I picked Berrettini. LOL.) Most have Zverev as the other finalist. Will it be Zverev then?

I did not do the draw but I am hoping that Sinner at least reach the final. He does have to potentially face Zverev/Tsitsipas B2B just to reach the final, but he can do it especially if it is 2 out of 3 sets.

Hurkacz is probably the slight favorite in the Top Half due to the court conditions. He did win the Miami Open this year so he knows how to win Masters 1000 titles. Diego is the 2nd favorite in the top half.

Thanks for reminding me who is my new favorite to win the tournament...Sinner! Diego played some great tennis today to show off Ruud. They were calling him a "serve-bot" because he had a great serving today, and he said he was a "return-bot" Excellent! :lulz1:

I know I have said it already before, but watching Sinner practice in person was spectacular to observe. You can literally call him a silent assassin. He is quiet (does not grunt at all), but when he starts hitting groundstrokes, you better be ready. I have never watched Bjorn Borg at all, but in terms of facial expressions and demeanor, Sinner is probably the closest to Borg.

Unfortunately, Sinner lost the 1st set to Fritz. I wonder if the Walkover affected his rhythm and momentum, just a tiny bit…

Or if Taylor Fritz is playing well, because he's at home. Taylor is playing some great ball, which he is capable of. I barely tuned into this match, and it seems nearly over. Am I going to have to pick yet a new favorite?!

Wow! Fritz takes out the top of Italian tennis, at home. (Meaning he already got Berretini.) Good for him.

What do we think of De Minaur? (Aside from the sometimes unfortunate mustache.) He pushed Stephanos to 3 sets today. He came out fresh and promising, but seems to be wallowing. Any opinions?

Zverev is getting much better at the net. Finally learning something from his brother?

Medvedev match restarted! The 1st game just ended and he literally looks gassed! He's breathing quite heavy for some reason! He just lost 8 games in a row to drop the 2nd set & go down a brk in the 3rd! He's talking to himself! Why couldn't he have 1 of these meltdowns @ USO? :thinking-face:

I think Fiero is living in an alternate timeline, or delayed.
