The Tournament:

The Indian Wells Open (also known as the Indian Wells Masters and as the BNP Paribas Open for sponsorship reasons) is an annual professional tennis tournament held in Indian Wells, California, United States. It is played on outdoor hardcourts at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, and is held in March. The tournament is part of the ATP Masters 1000 events on the ATP Tour and part of the WTA 1000 events on the WTA Tour.

The tournament is the best-attended tennis tournament outside the four Grand Slam tournaments (475,372 in total attendance during the 2019 event); it is often called the "fifth Grand Slam" in reference to this. The Indian Wells Tennis Garden has the second-largest permanent tennis stadium in the world, behind the US Open's Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York. The Indian Wells Open is the premier tennis tournament in the Western United States and the second largest tennis tournament throughout the United States and the Americas (behind the US Open in the Eastern United States).

Preceding the Miami Open, it is the first event of the "Sunshine Double" — a series of two elite, consecutive hard court tournaments in the United States in early spring.

About Indian Wells:

Indian Wells is a city in Riverside County, California, in the Coachella Valley. Incorporated in 1967, it lies in between the cities of Palm Desert and La Quinta. As of the 2010 Census, the city population was 4,757.

2024 Indian Wells might be the final time that I will see Nadal and Murray practice/play an official match in person. It will be bittersweet but both players are legends, so I am sure that fans including myself will give them a proper standing ovation when they step out to the court.

Rafa will have plenty of ROS practice as he faces Milos Raonic in the 1st round and things get better he will face Rune in his 2nd round match if he makes it:) Rafa wont get much rhythm in his first match encounter
I have posted Rafa's full draw on the Rafa Fan post.

Looking at Sinner's draw at Indian Wells, I like it! He could potentially face either Shelton or Mensik in the 4R, but I think his current form and the grittiness of the IW courts will allow him to neutralize Shelton's and Mensik's power.

Also, if Alcaraz and Sinner meet in the SFs, the winner of the potential SF match will be rank number 2 in the world after the tournament.

Sinner and Alcaraz are in the same half of the draw
I prefer Sinner's draw overall to Alcaraz, who needs to find his form quickly rather than later if he is to defend his title at IW
Novak has a favorable draw.

Just chk'd the draw! Nadal's going t/b under the gun as Raonic's been playing well even though easily hurt! We'll see if Rafa gets out of the 1st Rd.!
Well if you go the Rafa fan post I have put up his full draw! lets see if Milos Hip is okay he had to withdraw to Sinner in his last match due to his injured hip!

The bottom of the Men’s draw will play first starting tomorrow. I will go to the tournament this upcoming Thursday, March 7th and next Thursday, March 14th. I will definitely see Nadal in his 1st match (night session). I am hoping to see Sinner and Alcaraz next Thursday for Men’s and Women’s QF day.

As for the practices, hopefully I see Sinner and myabe Nadal and Murray.

I would not dismiss Medvedev last years R/U, his draw is doable, his 4th rd opponent is Dimitrov, who has been playing consistent tennis of late with results, his projected QF match is with Rune, though of late Rune hasnt been playing to his level.
Medvedev will have Gilles Simon with him at IW, his new addition to his coaching team

If this match determines the #2 ranking, I can say now that Red will surpass Chuck. Charlie is trending down and not likely to make it that far. Besides, he's lost his passion. Maybe losing his #2 rank will fire him. He has a ton of points coming off in the next 3 months.
