No, but Nadalfan2013 may well be right. We did compare Rafa, Novak and Roger with the young players in terms of H2H, and Rafa fared the better of all 3, with Novak rather far worse than the other two. I'd be surprised if it's changed much, even leaving out Roger.

So what? Even if right, what satisfaction do you get; trying to PO me? As I said, Nole's no fave, but I love when he silences fake Fedal fans! :face-with-hand-over-mouth:

That's not logical. Felix made 3 straight finals winning them. Got to the SF here. Is he on some MiracleGro too?
The fall is usually weird I find on the ATP Tour where a lot of players come from nowhere to do well. I usually find it is where underachievers or up and comers can shine after a year of nothing. It will be interesting to see how they play when slams come back into play.

Sigh. It is kind of sad how this forum has devolved into 90% Rafa fans hating on Novak, and/or ranting about Rafa being the GOAT.

That's because Federer fans disappeared after he got surpassed and Djokovic fans continued been nasty towards Nadal but we got the upper hand this year after the AO/RG combo. Clearly you forgot all those years where Fedovic fans were discussing the GOAT debate by completely taking out "clay specialist Dull" out of the equation and trashing him as a 2nd rate champion (even outside the Top 5 all-time). So now it's our turn to gloat so take it like a man and stop being a crybaby. What goes around comes around. Karma is real. :bye:

You really take the cake, Nadalfan2013: Nadal Fanboy Numero Uno, both in terms of fanaticism and irrationality.

You have every right to be happy that Nadal leads the Slam count - it is an amazing accomplishment. Where you go off the rails is equating this with GOATdom, ignoring everything else.

And you're right: fans of all of the Big Three gloat and can be nasty. But does it have to be this excessive? Can't you keep most of it to the Rafa thread? And more to the point: Do you really have to take every single opportunity to rave about Nadal and/or bag on Novak? Can't you resist, at least part of the time?

Posting here is like swimming in a pool that someone crapped in. It is fun for a time, until you bump up against something suspicious, and that happens all too frequently.

To be honest, until Rune comes up positive he is innocent.

Truth: Most players on the ATP and WTA settle for coaches that only understand the basics or can only get them so far hence their results illustrate that. Holger Rune decided to move from someone who got him to the tour with what he knew to a coach that can actually teach him how to use his skills to win. As much as I absolutely dislike Patrick, he knows his tennis and knows how to get results. Rune smartly made the move to someone who can get results vs. sticking with the same losing plan for 3-4 years wasting his tennis career before making a change like most of his fellow players choose to do before waking up and saying oh I’m a dumb… why didn’t I adjust sooner.

That's what tennis fans, the experts, the media, even Federer fans, and pretty much everyone have been saying for years: THE SLAM RACE. The rest was always considered as tiebreaker in case of a tie. It's only now that you guys are butthurt and bringing up tons of things. Such crybabies. lol

So 1 BBC guy on the whole planet is the be all and end all ? :D He clearly tanked sets in the AO 2017 to conserve energy and also due to a groin issue so the BBC guy is not exactly a genius.
Of course he did. By the way, if a BBC man said the same about Rafa you’d report it as proof. Fact is, the BBC man is right, Federer did add stamina to his bag of tricks in 2017…

Amen & Hallelujah to that! I'm nauseated as I'm all but banned from Nadal's fan thread! You're not allowed to post truth! Max sychophantism! :pleading-face:

It IS the internet, after all. Expect trolls. There's an ignore function for a reason. :)

Interesting stat today that I read on tennis.com - Novak had never lost a MS final where he won the first set. He was 30-0 on that record until today.

Now he’s 30-15 :lol6:
Good one! I think this match is a little bit in the category of time marches on. I don't know if you saw the match, but Novak played an impeccable first set, and Rune had some nerves (DFs that cost him his serve and the set.) But then Djokovic dipped a bit in the 2nd, something he is more inclined to do than he used to be, including against Tsitsipas yesterday. But for Stefanos not sealing the deal, he wouldn't have even been in this final. In the game where Rune was serving for the match, which went over 10 minutes, Rune was very lucky to get let off the hook at least a couple of times by Novak. It took Rune that long to settle his nerves and close it out. I don't think it takes a tennis genius to say that, had Novak gotten it to a tie-break, there may well have been a different outcome. I think these are the small chinks that come with age. Not to take anything away from Rune...fantastic win for him. But there is a lot of painting Novak as the ageless one, and he's just not. It's little wobbles here and there. Dips in form. Nerves, because the stakes are high. The Top 3 are not going to go out with a bang, but by increments.

That's a lot of finals; winning 2/3! Wow! He remains 2 Masters ahead of Nadal IIRC! I appreciate the help of the newbies in assisting! :face-with-hand-over-mouth::face-with-tears-of-joy:

Although Rune had trouble sticking the dismount, he didn't fall completely off like his colleagues: Jannik, Crown Princes, Meddie, Tay who had the Big 2 on the ropes and couldn't close. The kid could give lessons to the others in moxie and belief.

I can certainly see them giving Djokovic and Nadal fits in best of 3, but right now Nadal and Djokovic remain the masters at best of 5.

It took him a 10 minute+ game to get the win, but he gets a lot of credit for, as you artfully say, "sticking the dismount." He needed the help, in the game, to calm his nerves, and get a few tries, but he learned on the job and came good.

It appears I have miss a pretty good match yesterday. Great job by Rune!

Really enjoyable tournament and the final did not disappoint.

The final game was 16 minutes of thrills.

If Rune stays healthy and continues to improve (it's been a breathtaking speed improvement this year), he's going to be a force to be reckoned with.

He was suffering a lot when first on the main tour (very recently) with cramping and drop in physicality generally in tougher matches.
He's worked on that and it certainly hasn't been an issue in Paris.

He's very enthusiastic too

That’s it, he’s adapting to everything so fast. It seems like yesterday he was a spoilt infant during his loss to Ruud in Paris in June, but back again in Paris in November we see him able to handle any player with the same ferocious will that he showed in the final game yesterday. He’s a work in progress, as they say, but he’s also proof that players don’t get what they want if they wait long enough - he’s busting down the door and barging his even slightly older peers outta the way. I’d say he’s a fast learner, and along with FAA, Sinner, and young Charlie at the top, it’s going to be very interesting season next year, let alone how the future looks…
