Breaking News!

Simona Halep 4 year doping ban has been reduced to nine months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which means she can return to tennis with immediate effect. I am just trying to find the link with the full details

So she is still guilty and has served her nine months penalty. She would always be known as a junkie no matter what. She is no different from pova and both of them were probably high when they played that match at Roland Garros, just that pova meds were more potent.Shame on the arbitration body for giving her a pass, and just hope she never wins another title ever.

It will be interesting to see what tournament Halep plays, most of the WC have been given out for Miami tournament, though it would not surprise me if she was granted one, she has been practicing, also who will be her coach as Patrick M is now coaching Holger Rune

Simona Halep responds to the CAS decision,

" My faith in the process was tested by the scandalous accusations that were levelled against me, and by the seemingly unlimited resources that were aligned against me. I cannot wait to return to the tour".

This is not a good look for tennis and she should be treated as a doper like Yemstraka,Brooksby and pova.Imagine if it was Serena who had been caught or say Coco.

What about the incident with Gasquet? lol! I nearly fell off my chair when he was accused of sniffing cocaine in a night club? I think that was the case, anyway from memory he got off didnt he?
Hingis was not lucky she served her two years in peace.

Some of the players that have gone to the court of Arbitration and appealed eg Yemstraka, Pova, Cilic have had their sentences reduced?
You know when Serena was playing there were rumors that she doped because of her outstanding career, though it was just jealousy period

Just gag me already. Her faith in the process was tested. This is the same process that she was whining taking too long to render their decision.

If I was Lepchenko, I would sue. How can they give her a 4 year ban and then reduce Simo to a slap on the wrist.

This shouldn't surprise you. All the tennis governing bodies are playing softball (ATP, WTA, ITF, CAS, etc)

Agree with your thoughts regarding Lepchenko, I am just stunned with the decision with Halep

She can contact Goddess old coach I suppose. What will be interesting is who decides to grant her WC's. Remember when Pova's sentence was reduced, certain tourneys wouldn't give her a WC (Main Draw or even Quali's)

From what I have read most people are applauding the decision and cant wait to see where Halep plays next? if she dosent get a WC for Miami, she could play Fed Cup for Romania I guess. Yes I remember when Pova's decision was reduced, some tournaments didnt get her a WC.

Applauding a straight up cheater? No need to wonder why the governing bodies have gone so soft of late. I hope she is greeted w/ a butt whoopin by whoever she plays the early rounds of every tourney. There, I said it and won't sugarcoat it. I have zero tolerance for cheaters, period in any sport.

Who is applauding this nonsense?I know Roddick and Medusa wanted her to be exonerated.I feel a lot of these people are blaming Patrick and not the person who took the drug and played like she was possessed when she won Toronto.

If you go on Twitter a lot of people are happy that Halep got off, regardless of Roddick and Medusa, Darren Cahill came on, former coach and was happy with the decision, Chrissie has always been a strong supporter of Halep, though I havent read any comments from her so far, Boris Becker was also happy with the verdict, though Patrick M has not come one Twitter so far, he does love media attention :)

Here is a list of players, that appealed and had their doping bans reduced one player Yastremska has it overturned
Halep, Haddad Maia, Yastremska ( suspension overturned) Pova, Tara Moore, Cilic, Troicki,
It seems 'historically' the appeal almost always wins

So everyone is getting off scot-free..tsk tsk.I remember when there was Dick Pound as the head of the antidoping agency. He was really a hardliner on doping and usually sought the harshest penalty.I think when Joostin retired the first time it was a silent ban because after two years she was back..and the answer that Larry gave when Joostin retired was suspect. He bluntly said that he didn't care about her retirement. It was so sudden..I remember Dick Pound was really after the American atheletes and he caught some from track and field.
