The Tournament:

The Miami Open (also known as the Miami Masters, and currently branded as the Miami Open presented by Itaú for sponsorship reasons) is a tennis tournament held at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. It is part of the men's ATP Tour Masters 1000 circuit, and is a Premier Mandatory event on the women's WTA Tour.

The tournament had historically been held at the Tennis Center at Crandon Park in Key Biscayne, Florida from 1987 through 2018, before moving to Miami Gardens for 2019. Behind the Indian Wells Masters, it is the second event of the "Sunshine Double"—a series of two consecutive hard court tournaments in the United States at the beginning of the season, which both are the only tournaments besides majors where main draw play extends beyond eight days.

In 2010, a record 300,000 visitors attended matches at the 12-day tournament, making it one of the largest tennis tournaments outside the four Grand Slams. In 2011, 316,267 visitors attended the Open.

According to the 2017 estimate from the US Census Bureau, the city had a population of 113,750, and it is the largest city in Florida that has a majority African American population. It is a principal city of the Miami metropolitan area, which was home to an estimated 6,012,331 people in 2015.

Based on form and before the draw, who do people think will win ? Medvedev, Rublev, Karatsev (is he playing)? Have a feeling it'll be a Russian so commieserations to all the other players.

Draw is out. Seems Verdasco IS playing...someone had asked about him recently. And Murray gets Lloyd George Harris first round, who has a hot hand. He's going to have trouble getting out of the first round of these tournaments with his ranking so low, and if he keeps getting rough draws. He could have at least drawn a qualifier, and perhaps have been in the bottom half, which I think is a bit easier in this draw.

Ivo Karlovic (42) is in qualifiers. I guess everyone who's not out really IS playing.

I have done some projected men's seedings if they hold up to the q/finals.

Medvedev vs Bautusta Agut
Zverev vs Goffin
Schwartzman vs Rublev
Shapovalov vs Tsitsipas

Seems like some politics going on behind the scenes. Pospisil has been a big feature in the new players' group.

Pospisil has just issued an apology on his behavior on court,on Twiiter just now, regarding a players meeting with the ATP yesterday.

As some pointed out, hopefully he also apologized to the chair for his on court antics. Extremely unprofessional.

Berates the chair, pops off publicly about ATP politicking, and tanks the match. The triple crown.

Looks as if I'm not the only one who's a bit blase/disinterested about this Masters without the top players! It's almost reminiscent of the Inaugural back in '85 when still called the Lipton Int'l Players Chp.! It was a novel idea at the time to create an event almost equivalent to a major; played over 2 weeks, men and women, with equal prize money! People probably don't remember McEnroe and Connors protested by not participating! They both look like idiots now, but what else is new? It only hurt the men's event even with a competitive final, it had lower ranked players, Mayotte over Scott Davis! It went 5 sets, but wasn't as anticipated as Navratilova vs Everet-Lloyd! I recall I had to wait for the "Tennis Mag." recordbook to come out to find out if Navratilova pulled off the triple by winning her 3 events! She did BTW, taking doubles with Fernandez and Gunthardt respectively! After all this time there's still barely a record of it with the draw missing from Wiki! Unbelievable! I guess this is a preview of what it'll be like when the Big 3 finally fade into the sunset!

Yes he did....he stated that in his apology....his on court antics were extremely unprofessional....
He should not have taken out his anger on court what happened previously in a players meeting full stop and should get fined for his outburst.

Fiero, this link to an article shows Mac at full Mac:

And to get his endorsement, McEnroe says that any tournament consisting of both men and women will need to pay them according to the quality and quantity of their work. The Delray Beach tournament will pay men and women winners the same.

McEnroe considers that an injustice, claiming that the men work harder (they play best-of-five sets; the women play best-of-three) and deserve more prize money because they are the names the public pays to see.
