I just realized this but we could potentially see an Alcaraz vs. Fils match in the 4th round!

In addition, with a much needed win by FAA today, we could potentially see Rune vs FAA in the 4th round too!
Unfortunately, we won't get that match as Fils went down in 1R

Jarry withdraws from second round because his wife is about to give birth to their second child in Santiago
Popyrin a LL who faced a LL in the 1st rd, gets lucky again, directly into the last 16.

Davidovich Fokina will be Djokovic's first opponent, they played recently at RG, Novak won in 3 sets, but 3 tight sets. Foki full of confidence, will be a test for Novak.
Djokovic/Cacic lost their doubles match earlier today in SS 64 62 to J.Murray/M.Venus

So ridiculous! Gael Monfils' obviously in pain, but is still out there battling w/ Norrie! WHY? What a fk'n idiot! If he were to upset the guy, his WD would come soon after; that's his MO! What a jerk! Just retire already! Same w/ Murray & Wawrinka who got by Nakashima earlier today! :fearful-face:

This is sad to watch Monfils limping badly he had the physio earlier in the match , his left knee, though he is up a break on Norrie in the 2nd set leads 4-1, Gael being Gael
Norrie 1st set 63
Going 3 sets, as Monfils found a way to win the 2nd set 64

Monfils wins in 3 sets. How on earth did Norrie win a Masters? He is trading south for a while now, plays terrible at the moment.

Oh Fiero,

The NERVE of old time Geezers like Wawrinka, Monfils & Murray with their decrepit aged bodies still playing and beating higher ranked & even seeded ‘younguns. Who does this senior brigade think they are ??!! ; ) Oh the inhumanity.

It is a tough task given that Novak is coming after a month break, first match against a hot opponent. Fokina should have taken at least a set off Novak in this year RG, it was disappointing to see him fail in crucial moments. He will have another go here. It's not a slam, but still an opportunity in a packed centre court.

ADF completely dropped a turd against DeMinaur in the Toronto semi. It was especially painful after he was hitting so well in his earlier matches. Hopefully he will bring his best level when he plays Novak.

I am still in shock with a Monfils wins, at one stage in the match I thought he might retire, he had his head down and was in pain, though I take your point with Norrie

Don,
Agree tough 1st opponent for Novak, didnt Foki take a set off Novak at MC this year?, yes Foki had a brain fail in the match with Novak at RG, hopefully his brain is intact in this match :) just looked up , I was thinking about MC in 2022, Foki was beaten by KK in SS

I've been saying we have to get accustomed to inconsistency and a lack of durability when it comes to today's players! We can't expect them to hold up like any of the BIG 3! We can continue the full schedule of the men's tour, but we have to expect players to have a nice run, make it to a SF, a final, or even win an event, but fall off a cliff and lose early the next tournament or just WD altogether! That's why the finals have gone to BO3 due to BO5 being a killer in a week long tournament! Going to 2 weeks isn't going to be enough! The game's moving so fast and is so physically debilitating, even young'uns like Sinner need a reprieve after winning Toronto! :astonished-face: :fearful-face:  :face-with-hand-over-mouth: :face-with-tears-of-joy:

I don't know about this year, but he whooped Djoke last year at MC. Made it to the final where he ran out of gas against Tits.

Apparently a lot of the players have left their shavers at home, I dont mind a beard, as long as it it well groomed, though one thing I cannot bear to see his "neck hair"? looking at you Novak :)
