Feliciano Lopez announces his retirement but, as he wants to do it on a tennis court, he'll still play some tournaments, which for different reason have been special for him, in 2023
The longest retirement tour in the history of tennis. I think he's been retiring for 5 years already. Love that he's announcing that he'll take his own sweet time. ¡Deliciano!

Nike included major reduction in its contracts. ( from Relevant Tennis)
Players now have to meet certain performance requirement - such as ranking position or tournament entries - to earn money.
An agent said that players outside the Top 20 wearing Nike ' are not making any money'.

How is a Feliciano Lopez retirement tour even tenable? Isn't he ranked something like #850? Outside of a couple of Spanish tournaments that *may* extend him a wildcard for old times…. He would be the Sal Tessio of the ATP

I always love a Godfather reference. I would have thought that Feli was more like a boy-band reunion tour, but I take your point.

I actually can get behind this. It might wake some of these players up to actually do something with their games.

When will Kei Nishikori 'ever be injury free' he is out of yet another event - pulled out of Delray Beach in February because of his ongoing foot injury from 2021

We do have to start asking ourselves when he just retires and takes all that endorsement money.

Agree Moxie, I feel this year will be ' a very telling year' for Kei, his injuries now have taken a long toll and his ability to get over them is now longer,, also his age has a lot to do with it.

News from USTA,
Mardy Fish is out as US Davis Cup Captain, after the controversial November snub, Rajeev Ram is back on for roster for the next tie in Uzbakistan. An interim captain for the tie will be named in the near future, as the USTA and Mardy Fish mutually agreed to move in a new direction with the DC captaincy in 2023.A full time captain will also be announced at a later date
