The Tournament:

The 2022 US Open will be the 142nd edition of the tournament and will take place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows–Corona Park of Queens in New York City, New York, United States.

In the first years of the U.S. National Championship, only men competed and the tournament was known as the U.S. National Singles Championships for Men. In September 1887, six years after the men's nationals were first held, the first U.S. Women's National Singles Championship was held at the Philadelphia Cricket Club.

The US Open employed standard tiebreakers (first to 7, win by 2) in every set of a singles match.[2] Now in all four Grand Slam events, when a match that reaches 6–6 in the last possible set (the third for women and the fifth for men) an extended tiebreaker to 10 points is played.

Six-time US Open Champion, 23 time Major Champion winner in singles, Serena Williams, has announced this will be her last tournament.

It’s a shame Serena didn’t try to get as match fit as she could before the US Open because when you look at that draw it’s a very manageable draw for a match fit Serena.

Agree, she has been practicing against Sakkari, Ons Jabeur, Renae Stubbs advised her to get practice with Top players instead of her hitting partner which I think it is an excellent idea

I’m rooting for Iga on this one. The women’s game needs a strong number 1, and a strong rival for her. They’re a long way from both of these but Iga might take the first step.

But I also hope Emma puts in a great run too, to shut up the idiots who’ve been on her back since she won last year…
