Rune is a beast. If he manages to beat Novak, he jumps to #10 and is the first alternate at the WTF.

Rafa has his work cut out to reach #1. But he doesn't actually need to win it - just win all three RR matches and the SF. That will give him 1000 points and tied with Alcaraz. The tiebreaker is more points at big titles, and he would have 5000 to Alcaraz's 4000, so he would be #1.

Well it's over! Djokovic tried to give the match to Tsitsipas, but couldn't take it! Novak had all kinds of break pts., but allowed TB ending!

If Djokovic loses to Rune, after losing this year to Alcaraz and FAA, it will be clear as day that 2023 will be the year of the new generation.

With Djokovic being owned by the youngsters and Nadal being unbeatable but unfortunately always battling with injuries, the slam race would end at 22-21-20.

Let's go Rune, send Djokovic and his fans into Ruins.

OK, sorry for the sidebar, but what do we think of tomorrow's final? Rune is certainly in fine form. Novak played the 2nd match today, with a lot more trouble, and (ahem,) he's the senior in this match-up by 16 years. They have only met once: USO last year in the first round, when Rune took the second set. But basically everyone got a set off of Novak in that one, until the final. Distraction was a factor.

At the end, the draw was still full of kids, and Novak was the only 30-something left. Will Rune get one for the Next Next Gen, or will Novak hold up the standard for the OGs? Rune has never been in a final at this level. His best chance is to come in the the nerves of a 19-year-old (as in, none,) and get on top of things fast. If it becomes much of a battle, you have to think experience will win out.

Andy first reached the top 10 on April 16 of 2007, about a month before he turned 20. So there was a month. (He wasn't consistently in the top 10 until July of 2008). So May 14, 2007 would be the answer to your question, I think. Novak was #6, Murray #10.

Agassi and Chang were both in the top 10 as teenagers for at least part of 1989-90, before Agassi turned 20 in April of 1990. Sampras reached the top 10 in August of 1990 at 19, when Chang was still 18. Ivanisevic was also in the top 10 as a teenager for parts of 1990. So there was a cluster back in the 1989-90 range, of Agassi, Chang, Sampras, Ivanisevic. Not sure if anyone else.

I know Edberg and Becker were both in the top 10 in 1985 as teenagers.

Here's a weird one I find: for a brief time in 1984, Mats Wilander and Aaron Krickstein were both teenagers in the top 10. Wilander turned 20, but Krickstein first reached the top 10 right after turning 17 years old.
