One of my favorite young players Bianca Andreescu who has hardly played tournaments in 5 months,due to a nagging shoulder injury,has defeated 5th seed Kiki Bertens to advance to the q/finals of her home tournament.Bianca has a world class forehand,great mental strength,has a lot of variety in her game,hopefully she can stay injury free for the rest of the year.Well done Bianca I love watching you play.

Serena's game today was ok..she is moving forward good..I think she could improve her footwork side to side. It would be nice to see her play Osaka

I agree unless she can ramp up that serve..she may be toast..
I am serious about this, Serena's serve has the same effect as maybe or similar to Sampras..no matter how bad he is playing Pete's serve could bail him out.. Serena needs to adopt that mentality ..big serve or die..it's the only way in my opinion.

KS ..is it me but I still think that Osaka is a bit of off in the head..I know she is young and still maturing ..what happened to the mental samurai like Hingis, Graf , Seles before the injury ,Venus ..it seem like there is so much drama with Keys and alot of the ball bashers..well the game has changed and Hingis serve would not fare very well against these ladies.IMO

Sofiia Kenin continues her winning ways,defeating another Top 10 player in this tournament Elina Svitolina (5th seed) 76(2) 64,Sofia was down 0-4 in the 1st set and fought back to win in it,her reward making the s/finals of a Premier 5 tournament for the first time.Congrats and well done Sofia.

Bianca will serve for the 1st set 5-0 against Pliskova,it is windy on court,Bianca using her slice to perfection in these conditions,causing all sorts of trouble to Pliskova,their first meeting.
