The Tournament:

The Rogers Cup began back in 1892 and the tournament rotates each year between Toronto and Montreal, with the ATP staging its version of the event the same week in the alternate city. Three times it has been named the WTA's Premier Tournament Of The Year - in 1998, 1999 and 2000.

Built in 1996, Uniprix Stadium (French: Stade Uniprix) is the main tennis court at the Canada Masters tournament. The centre court stadium currently holds 11,700 spectators. The twelve courts at this venue use the DecoTurf cushioned acrylic surface, the same surface as the U.S. Open Grand Slam event.

Its core seating area is a remnant of the former Major League Baseball stadium on the site, Jarry Park Stadium, the original home of the Montreal Expos.

About Toronto

Toronto, the provincial capital of Ontario, Canada, is a large, ethnically diverse city sprawling along Lake Ontario's northwestern shore. A dynamic metropolis with a core of soaring skyscrapers, all dwarfed by the iconic CN Tower, it also features abundant green spaces, from the orderly oval of Queen's Park to 400-acre High Park and its trails, sports facilities and zoo.

It looks like Serena will play both in Tornoto and Cincy. So, independent of how she fares in these two tourneys, she will be match hardened and it can only increase her chances at USO (barring the possibility that she creates some kind of scene there as usual).

Seeing Barty has lost to Kenin,Osaka needs to advance one round further than Barty to have a chance of returning to the No1 ranking.

Pliskova has to each the s/finals to have a chance of moving to the No1 ranking,if Osaka reaches the s/finals,Pliskova will need to win the title to have a chance of the No1 ranking.

I thought Barty was mature and won't be worried about playing when she was the target as #1. But, she proved me wrong by following up loss to Riske with a loss to Kenin here. Neither of these two players are big name players also. So, it really adds insult to injury.

But, I think she will remain relevant unlike say Osta or Puig.

Madison should catch the first plane to Chicago, get an Uber or Lyft downtown to Lakeshore drive, go to North Avenue beach, wait til 10pm after the beach closes, dig a big hole in the beach sand and plant her skull deep inside and don’t move until she can figure out a way to play the game of tennis.

Unlike like the men , the WTA is so unpredictable..
I wouldn't be surprised if person ranked outside the top 20 would win the USO

If everyone plays their best games, I will pick Sloane to prevail over Serena's game at the USO.
