the deaths in the uk now are a result if people meeting reletives/friends over the holidays,
I agree but think they're also a result of people not following rules. Where I live it takes you all your time to keep your distance as people walk straight in front of your face so you can't move & they don't follow 1 way systems or wait their turn to go in shops. They just don't care. A lot of people only wear their masks over their mouths if they wear them at all & if they don't wear them they don't wear visors instead or have an exemption lanyard & some people are still in town every day & catching buses. I'm glad to stay in. It's crazy outside like Xmas shopping rush used to be. Wearing a mask too long affects my breathing. It's nice & warm in the house & I can get a drink when I want & consume it in the nice, warm house. I'm just sick of the research & report-writing tasks I've been given & want to get through them then I can do the creative jobs again but the research & report-writing jobs are very time-consuming although they are fascinating.

^ The problem is the old people are all been given this because of bs worldwide media scaremongering and they're making out these vaccines are a miracle cure. No, they're not. Today the UK had a new record over yesterday. 1820 deaths reported today and 1610 yesterday and they NEVER had deaths this high prior to end of December when these "vaccines" were rolled out. I'd say that's some coincidence! Lockdowns are pointless. They're killing the economy and what's the point with numbers like that still dying in lockdown. Countries' governments seem surprised when numbers of cases skyrocket again after lockdown ends. Duh. You don't say. What do they expect? Yes, younger people have a choice and I sure as hell won't be taking any vaccine for a virus where the official stats have 99.6% in mild condition and recovery rate of 97-98% There's no sense to that. As the ex vice president of Pfizer correctly stated:

“There is absolutely no need for vaccines to extinguish the pandemic. I’ve never heard such nonsense talked about vaccines. You do not vaccinate people who aren’t at risk from a disease. You also don’t set about planning to vaccinate millions of fit and healthy people with a vaccine that hasn’t been extensively tested on human subjects.”

What's more, I would say this is not a real pandemic and many agree. It's more of an epidemic. In a real pandemic people of all ages are dropping dead left, right and centre. With this, only a select few young people are dying or those who were very sick to begin with or had serious underlying conditions. It's basically 99% old people dying and they're the ones these vaccines are geared towards but doesn't seem to be doing too well. The South African strain has killed some healthy young people, yes, but nothing like what would happen in a real pandemic like the Spanish flu.

Why do you need to take a not properly tested vaccine to get immunity for something you may never get ? Look at the percentage of the global population who have contracted it. It's nothing. So why the need for a vaccine ? If they had extensive research into the long term side effects then maybe there may be some more inclination for some to take it but you're basically a guinea pig to poorly tested, rushed chemicals and it's a case of take it at your own risk. Pfizer's Sars vaccine gave some people narcolepsy. Unfortunately, it's being pushed so much to the public by poor governments and health officials they're being brainwashed into thinking it's the be all end all. None of the covid vaccines have been proven to stop transmission and all they think they'll do is reduce symptoms if you catch covid19.

One thing I most certainly do agree on is that deaths are being reported incorrectly. Someone on their last legs who would've died anyway is being listed as a covid death stat and that's not right. You see people saying "RIP to the poor souls" on our local forums and the article says the median age of those who died was 85 and the oldest was 99. Seriously, this is a normal time to die and absolutely any bug would've likely killed them. Man jumps out of plane with no parachute, dies of coronavirus. *SIGH*
You do understand that a vaccine is not the same as a "cure," right? It's a protection against virus. And the reason why younger people take them is to protect the older, and the immune-compromised. Essentially, the more vulnerable. You can be a fearful, selfish git if you want, but do the research. The clinical studies on these vaccines actually included quite a lot of people. The notion that there are more COVID deaths because of the vaccine is nonsense. Read @JesuslookslikeBorg's post above. It's because people gathered for the holidays. Please use some common sense and look at the science before freaking out.

Sorry but no chance of those numbers being simply due to people meeting friends over the holiday period. That was almost a month ago. Yes, there's clearly a reporting lag time but not that much and the numbers have been going up and up with 1820 deaths yesterday . No offense, but that's clearly not the reason.

Common sense right. it's almost 5 weeks since Xmas. The lag time is not 5 weeks and you won't find many governments or health officials admitting the vaccines are killing people but if you want to believe everything you read about this CCP virus then please by all means believe everything from the corrupt WHO and China while you're at it. The pos WHO CEO may be tried for genocide and yet the media would have you believe the WHO are great. What a lovely chap he is.

Deaths in nursing homes have skyrocketed and they are vaccinating there first. So yes, I very much believe these vaccines are responsible for this surge but you won't read about anyone admitting this.

^^xmas was not 5wks ago..it is not even 4wks ago..and i meant apart from the official govt sanctioned "xmas day off", folk were mingling over new year too. as well as the festive period.

whatever the govt did people were always going to suit themselvs no matter what the risk, even with the new more easily caught virus strain..

what i said is not wrong. but you are emtitled to your opinion so that is cool.

I have to agree with Front regarding how corrupt WHO is and their CEO and don't start me on China.WHO knew about this virus that started in China, but did nothing to advise the rest of the world until it was Too Late, now they are sending a team to China to investigate....Unbelievable,only because countries were pressing them to investigate the origin in China.

Sorry didn't mean it to come across as I'm right and you're wrong. I meant it's wrong imo to consider this as a result of holiday season meetings as the lag time for increased deaths has long since passed and backlogs of reported deaths should be well clear everywhere now. Older people with weakened immune systems whether they have underlying conditions or not are much more likely to die from these poorly tested vaccines than younger, healthier people and that imo is what's happening here with the recent surge of unfortunate deaths. They've flat out told the world there are harsh side effects and those are no good for the very people who need it most. That said, I doubt any countries will admit this. They're all pushing for as many people to be guinea pigs and take these vaccines and if people die from them (and they are) we'll only hear or read about a few but there are likely many.

Regarding 5 weeks, I said 5 weeks as many people finished up work a week before Xmas so holiday season was in full swing from then on.

Sadly too little too late now. That clown Tedros from the WHO was claiming there was no human to human transmission back in January 2020 and that there was no need to stop travel. He should be in jail. Both these scum should. Best buddies, 2 of the most corrupt people on the planet.

the govt wanted to jab as many folk as possible and get some immunity going. 5m nearly so far.

People are getting covid19 in between shots so seems the single dose is pretty useless and the wrong approach. Israel did the same and have found out they've wasted tons of vaccine now. Hope your mum stays healthy. Someone on www.journal.ie posted this earlier today.

"daughter had first shot on 9th January tested positive for Covid on 19th January-front line hospital worker, I know you need the two but I would have thought you’d have some protection…maybe it’s gives you a small ‘dose’ like some say the flu vaccine does!"

Another good post by someone on journal.ie.

"50,000 restaurants have opened in Italy, unsurprisingly this wasn’t reported on the journal. Speculation now that there will be no more lockdowns in Italy, finally realising that destroying people livelihoods is disproportionate for a disease where the age of fatality is above the average life expectancy."

Lockdowns are 100% pointless when the countries are allowing people fly in and out of the country daily. Total embarrassment and ruining the economy for nothing. People can all stay indoors and not spread infection only for plane loads of people to just fly in riddled. Wtf is the sense of that.

I have just signed up for a COVID vaccine trial. I get my jab tomorrow. No placebo, just trying to measure amounts of virus. They will also let me get the proper vaccine, when I meet the requirements, as long as I wait 6 weeks from my first jab, which will definitely be more than 6 weeks, before I'm eligible for the regular one. Seems pretty reasonable, and a win/win for me. Worst case, I feel crappy tomorrow. One for the team.

I had to take Mother for hers last week. (She's deaf so needed an escort + they couldn't get her in down our town & didn't know where the nearest centre she could get to & I knew was so I had to show her. It was booked for dinner-time so we went in town for dinner & a bit of shopping while we were out & then caught the bus home.) She felt no real side effects except feeling tired the next day.

@Front242: I don't want to derail the Miami thread with our argument about the vaccine. This is your post from that thread that I declined to respond to:

Those experimental treatments (I'm calling them what are they are and they're not vaccines and not directed at you btw as everyone from the media and manufacturers is incorrectly referring to them as vaccines) don't stop you getting or transmitting covid and only reduce severity of symptoms if you happen to catch it so all in all pretty useless imo and to cap it all they don't even know how long the symptom reducing protection works for. If they work for the old and sick then good I'm happy and let the rest of us get on with our lives 'cos no one else needs them. Can't see that changing things much to be honest. Masks, distancing and all this other world changing crap is here to stay unfortunately. Sad that the media fail to acknowledge though that chances of catching covid outdoors are practically zero unless eg. groups of runners bunched together at the Olympics inhaling one another's air supply.

That Tsitsipas was fined for going to a shop is complete bs. What's the difference between him going to a shop and wearing a mask v anyone else? In fact, he's much less likely to have covid given the players are tested way more than some normal person in a shop. Likewise, flying to tournaments, you know everyone who has got on a flight is covid free as they have to pay for a test now (massive money racket) before they fly and after they land so, again, players are therefore way less likely to have covid than a normal shopper. The world has gone absolutely bonkers. No logic to these fines or protocols.

________________

You also said that they don't vaccinate people for diseases that have a 1% mortality rate. Sure they do. I really don't think you understand how vaccinations work. Hep A has a low mortality rate, but we get vaccinated for it when we go into countries where there is a risk, because it would be a drag to get it. We get vaccinated against flu (unless you're a selfish wanker) because there is a higher risk of mortality amongst those in higher risk groups. And we're getting vaccinated against COVID-19 because, not only will it stop the spread of the disease, it will stop/curtail the growth of variants, which have an unknown contagion and morbidity rate.

I don't know why you're still so paranoid that these are still only "experimental treatments." Millions have been vaccinated to no ill effect. I'm actually in a trial, meaning I put myself up as a guinea pig, and I'm fine. (And there was no placebo, btw. I received a trial vaccine.) But vaccination may keep those who receive it from spreading it, and does seem to keep them from getting a mortal form of it. It also seems to lessen symptoms in those who have long-term COVID.

If you're selfish enough to care only about yourself, sure, your chances of getting COVID or suffering hugely from it are smaller, as a hale and hearty younger man. Doesn't mean you can't get it, though, and that it wouldn't be unpleasant. However, if you get vaccinated, the chances that you transmit it to others is reduced. That is how vaccinations work.

I don't know that anyone has ever said that being out of doors doesn't reduce the chance of spread. I think everyone acknowledges that. That's why ventilation indoors is key. And I'm not convinced that masking and physical distancing are here to stay, if people get vaccinated. I really hope not, and that's why I'm getting my jabs.

You actually contradict your own point about Tsitsipas going to the market. As you point out, people there are not regulated. In the bubble, they are. That's why he broke protocol.

As to the airlines, there are many, many airlines and many many countries. Their protocols are by no means the same, so your notion that they are all testing at the gate and charging for it is ludicrous, as a general mandate.

It's clear from all of the above, and by that I mean the whole thread, that you are an anti-vaxxer. That is your choice, but I think it is an anti-science position. Or at the very least, fearful against the best evidence.

my mum has now had both vaccine jabs. as her registered carer i have also had 1 of 2 jabs (2nd in may) she had no reaction, i had, dizzyness, hot/cold flushes/aches for 2 days then i was ok.

i was not bothered about having the jab as the alternative for my mum is likely v grim, for me it would be russian roulette seeing as my health probs put me at greater risk of death and long covid is not what i need after long spells of even poorer health in the past. maybe i'd be ok and have mild covid but i cannot risk it,,and if i did get it then my mum would too in all likely scenario's.

I'm glad your mother is vaccinated, and that you're in process. There seems to be no telling who is going to have basically no reaction to it, and who will feel mildly ill. The nurse who gave me my 2nd (trial) jab the other day said that she had the symptoms you describe, and she looked to be early 30s, tops. Poor dear, she got the jab on Christmas eve, (i.e, very early on, as she's a nurse in a hospital,) and she didn't want her family to be afraid to take it, so she feigned feeling fine, she told me, even though she felt pretty unwell.

I hate to say this, but for most people the 2nd jab is a little rougher, so I hope you feel OK, after, but be prepared to take the day off. I respect your choice to take care of your mother and yourself by doing it.
