Jazz broke for a 4-2 lead in the 3rd set, and had to play clutch to hold her serve, as Kudermetova seems to find her best tennis when she is behind
Phew Jaz held with a great bhand down the line passing shot and she leads 5-2 3rd set
Jaz served out the match with a love service game to win 63 67(2) 63 to make the final
Ben Fatto Jaz, also well done to Kudermetova she made Jaz play for the win
Jazz will play Iga in the final tomorrow

Glad for Kudermetova, who is on the comeback. I hope Paolini can find a way to beat Iga tomorrow, but she's a big ask, when she's confident.

Iga has played so well in this tournament, both Iga and Jaz have made their first Cincy final, Jaz wont give up, I feel Iga has the advantage, Jaz has never beaten her

I'm hoping tomorrow she'll change that, but she'll have to play a lot more focused than today.

Ladies Singles Final, WTA1000 Cincy,
Not before 6pm, Monday 18th August,

I.Swaitek (3) vs J. Paolini (7)
Iga leads their H2H 5-0
This is the first time Iga and Jaz have made the final at Cincy

Iga Swaitek has now reached the final in 3 of her last 4 tournaments played, after not reaching 1 in more than a year
It has taken a little time for Iga and her new coach Wim Fissette to click, though Iga was impressive with her win at Wimbledon this year.
In her SF she came back from a break in the 1st set, when Rybakina was serving for the 1st set to break and ended up winning the match 75 63
Iga has won all five previous matches against Paolini, the most recent in Bad Homburg ( grass) in straight sets.
If Iga wins Cincy she will return be ranked No 2 in the world and will be seeded No 2 for the USO

Paolini defeated Coco Gauff in her SF, coming back from a set down to win in 3 sets. Jaz hasnt won a match over Iga, she will have to play at a high level and to keep her focus on herself and what she has to do in the final, Jaz always has a fighting spirit and will give it her all in the final. If Jaz wins the title she will move up to No 4 ranked player her career high best.

Good luck to both players

Nice start for Paolini. She's playing well, and got the early break. 2-0. She's taking the ball early, which is smart.

She has to keep this up all match Moxie, I am still upset that Jannik had to retire, I would love for Jaz to win

Paolini is putting up a great fight, and playing aggressively, but I'm afraid Iga is just too much for her.

It was a great fight from the little Italian that could. She needs these kinds of matches to strengthen her resolve. She may not have the power of the slam winners, but she counter that w/ variety, junk balling and net play. She has to beef up that serve. Hopefully, the next time she gets to one of these finals, she'll be ready to lift the trophy.

Coco waits until the NA HC to have another round of serve yips. She will now have to beat Iga and Saba if she wants to win the USO again. Iga is only 500 points behind Saba. If Saba doesn't defend USO, she will lose #1.
