The Tournament:

The Indian Wells Open (also known as the Indian Wells Masters and as the BNP Paribas Open for sponsorship reasons) is an annual professional tennis tournament held in Indian Wells, California, United States. It is played on outdoor hardcourts at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, and is held in March. The tournament is part of the ATP Masters 1000 events on the ATP Tour and part of the WTA 1000 events on the WTA Tour.

The tournament is the best-attended tennis tournament outside the four Grand Slam tournaments (475,372 in total attendance during the 2019 event); it is often called the "fifth Grand Slam" in reference to this. The Indian Wells Tennis Garden has the second-largest permanent tennis stadium in the world, behind the US Open's Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York. The Indian Wells Open is the premier tennis tournament in the Western United States and the second largest tennis tournament throughout the United States and the Americas (behind the US Open in the Eastern United States).

Preceding the Miami Open, it is the first event of the "Sunshine Double" — a series of two elite, consecutive hard court tournaments in the United States in early spring.

About Indian Wells:

Indian Wells is a city in Riverside County, California, in the Coachella Valley. Incorporated in 1967, it lies in between the cities of Palm Desert and La Quinta. As of the 2010 Census, the city population was 4,757.

I don't see the WC's doing much damage MM. Am I reading that right? Vika is almost out of the top 30?

Current ranking is #30 she lost 3 points due to going out early in Dubai, she could drop out of the top 30, I will revise her ranking after these couple of tournaments in San Diego and Austin from Monday

Iga draw is no joke. Banshee, Noskova, Alexandrova are all players who have beat her on HC before

Paula Badosa looked okay playing with Stef last night in the mixed doubles charity event at IW

Badosa has withdrawn her place in the draw will be Podoroska
A. Kureger will not face LL Podorska in her 1st round match

Paula your back fracture is not healed, you either enter tournaments and go out in the 1st rounds or withdraw. Do yourself a favor and comeback when your back is healed

Katie Boulter who missed out being seeded, after her title win San Diego, as the WTA went on seedings of the week before lost in straight sets to Girogi 63 62, I will give Katie a pass this time, probably had a bit of have let down winning her biggest title to date,, though Girogi is no push over on a HC when she is playing well

That's what happens when you're not seeded. You start play on Wed and Thurs. The seeded folks probably won't start until closer to the weekend.

BTW Alycia Parks is officially working with Sascha Bajin now, he has to work on Parks off the ground shots for starters, and construction of points, she has a good serve, though her ground game needs immediate attention.
