Just tuning into Fonseca v KAA match, a bit surprised FAA leading 5-0 1st set
At least Fonseca gets on the SB and avoids a bagel, his fhand not firing at present, though he appears calm and collected, not panicking at all.
KAA will serve for the 1st set 5-1 and wins 6-1
Fonseca with his shot selection at times, he does have many weapons, I feel at times he should play it safer and play percentage tennis, that will probably come with time playing full time on the tour.
Fonseca has found his game breaks early in the 2nd set and consolidates, leads 3-0 seems like half of Brazil have turned up to cheer him on :)

I'm also watching a bit of the Fonzie match. I don't think I've seen him express so much frustration before. Be patient, young padawan. You can tell he really wants to build on Basel, but I think needs to keep focusing on improving his game and not worry too much about results. But he looks super dominant when in attack mode. It reminds me a bit of Federer, tbh.

I do wonder if he's got a big Brazilian entourage, or if there are just that many Brazilians in every city. Or maybe Brazilians are just loud. @mrzz?

Wow, an Alcarazian drop-shot to go up 40-0, at 3-1 in the second.

Vacherot is becoming an interesting player to follow. Breakouts at his age (26) are rare but not unheard of. It is highly unlikely that he becomes and elite player, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him reach the top 20 and hang out there for a bit.

Players that won their first big title at age 26+:

Three Slam winnners: At 26 - Orantes, Teacher; at 28 - Wawrinka (3),
Two multi-big title winners:At 26 - Forget (2), Dimitrov (2)
19 single Masters winners: at 26 - Higueras, Novacek, Soderling, Norrie, Ruud, Vacherot; at 27 - Portas, Pavel; at 28 Gilbert, Mantilla; at 29 - Henman; at 30 - Dibbs, Pernfors, Pioline, Ferrer; at 31 - Ljubicic, Carreno Busta; at 32 - Fognini, Isner.

To put all that another way, there are a bunch of first-time big title winners at age 26 (10), then it plummets to 4 or less a year through age 32.

I lost my stream as Fonseca was broken Meh!
Back live as KAA serving for the match at 5-3
Fonseca you should not have used the drop shot again, use her fhand and it would have won the point
See you used for fhand and won the point?
KAA wins 61 36 63, first time KAA has won back to back matches since Cincy this year, he will play the winner of de Minaur and Diallo which is going 3 sets
Edit KAA will play de Minaur in his next match

Kind of disappointing result, considering his strong second set. He seemed out of sorts, in the half a set or so that I watched - more agitated than I've seen. A learning experience, hopefully.

He's at #24 in the Race rankings, and will probably stay there, or drop no more than a slot or two if someone behind him comes up strong in Paris and/or wins one of the remaining 250s. So basically a top 25ish finish at age 19 - not bad at all. His Elo is #13, which may be more predictive of what to expect heading into next season.

Brazilians are indeed a plague around the world - Paris included - and we are pretty loud...

BTW Fonseca still has ATP250 Athens tournament, though he was suppose to play Metz as well according to his revised schedule, though both tournaments are on at the same time starting November 2nd - November 8
Maybe Mrzz has more up to date info, as of today (Wednesday) he is still on both entry lists

People in Brazil are saying Athens, but I don't think anything official was announced.

Small complaint, but I think you have Alcaraz in the wrong shade of green. He has 6 Majors.
Nice catch. Yeah, I started that about a year or two ago, but have only been updating the new players.

Vacherot beat Norrie. The guy is really showing that his Shanghai win wasn't a total fluke. He's now up to #29 in the Race rankings and should be seeded for the AO now.

After defeating Rublev 76(6) 63 and reaching the QFs in Paris, Ben Shelton has qualified for the 1st time for the ATP Finals in Turin

de Minaur will also qualify if he defeats KAA later today

Just read on the entry list for ATP250 Athens that Fonseca has withdrawn, maybe he is going to play Metz after all.
