How would someone feel if their tax accountant confessed he didn’t keep up with tax laws & regulations. Or a plumber who was not up to date with building codes and techniques because it was too much work and he didn’t have the motivation?

That is Kyrgios. So beyond his boorish behavior on court, his lazy ass and unprofessional approach to the sport which supports him makes me shake my head. Could never be a fan of someone like him. Regarding his natural talent everybody oohs and aahs about,I remember a quote from Niki Pilic who said that part of natural talent is caring enough to cultivate it. It’s insulting to speculate combining his “natural talent” with players XYZ. Those players worked hard to get the best of their abilities, isn’t that the whole point of sport, win or lose?

I for one am glad Novak won and I was cheering him on.

Analyzing some stats.. no nick didn’t choke or played badly ( let the fedal chorus begin) he played well.
62 winners vs 33 UFE, 30 aces. He would’ve beaten many greats playing this well.

ramarkably, even though he hit 30 aces, hit 73% of his 1st serves in and averaged around 130mph first serve and over 110mph second serve, he won less 1st and 2nd serve points than djokovic did! Novak won 83% of 1st serve points vs nick winning 70%. On second serve points won, novak had edge 61% vs 53%. Remarkable, any other player facing a nick kyrgios serving at 70%+ and averaging such speeds, would’ve lost!

and from the baseline, novak dominated.. nick ran more than novak and covered more court according to stats. At his best, novak is the greatest baseliner on grass.. in 2014 finals vs federer, his baseline game was out of this world, he needed to be this good to beat federer on grass, who btw, he has beaten in 3 finals. He may go down as greatest grass courter, his win/loss % is higher than federer’s and if he gets 8 titles, with having beaten fed in 3 finals, he will be grass court goat. Thought i’d throw this in for fed and rafa fans who will surely be up and arms by me even daring to make this claim.

So who had to pull out due to getting covid??

bettetini, batista agut and cilic.. all vaccinated. Novak? Never got it. Was novak a bigger health concern than all these vaccinated guys who tested positive? NO wimbledon did the right thing here but wrong thing when banning russian players. Roland garros stands tall.. the way they handled things.

vaccinated people are getting covid like crazy and the inconvenient truth is out, vaccines do little to protect you from getting covid but politics is nasty, governments just want to show they are ‘doing something’, for political reasons. Novak not being vaccinated isn’t a health concern for anyone, all vaccinated people are as big a health threat than novak is, even nadal (vaccinated) got covid earlier in year.

We need to take politics out of the sport. Banning players for being russian or not vaccinated serves NOTHING good, it’s all for politics…

novak, you are such a giant! You will be GOAt, even if you have to also fight governments and politics! Such an inspiration!
Lying and cheating is inspiration only to people who want to lie and cheat. Write that down, son…

It’s almost like you never saw Pete Sampras play - and yet you used to be such a fan. Novak wouldn’t have gotten more than a set off Pete on grass.

Sure, on slow grass against berretini and Nick he’s great. He’s fabulous. And he beat a declining Federer, too. But like Rafa’s14 in Paris, a lot of records today are just boosted by the fact that sometimes the opposition is just…Nick-like…

Just read that Nick will probably get fined for wearing a red cap at the trophy presentation lol!
Nick should be fined for getting folks like yourself hopes up for putting on that glorified Exbo! Only reason I watched was my body was beaten up from 4 hours of tennis practice and hiking 5 miles with my doggie..

Novak didn't get cheated out of the AO, let's be clear on that one. He knew the price of admission and refused to pay. That was his decision. Same with, for now, the USO. You can decide what you think about the vaccines, but nations make their own policies, and it's got nothing to do with evil governments trying to do Novak Djokovic in. FFS. As to people trying to make him out to be a bad guy for not being vaccinated...there are plenty of other reasons to make him a bad guy. His temper, for one, which got him defaulted from the USO. His super-spreader Adria Tour that defied all current protocols at the time. Look, he always acts like a nice guy when he wins. It's the other bits.
Not quite as neat and wrapped up in a bow as you make it out to be. I totally agree that Novak made his own bed when it came to not getting vaccinated, BUT===as you recall, he WAS granted a visa to come in, and then the minister reversed it. because it looked bad that "special treatment" was given to Djokovic, who was let in for having very recently recovered from COVID. And then to put him in a detention hotel while he awaited an appeal. It was NOT handled "cleanly" by those involved. Could Novak has avoided the whole episode by having gotten vaccinated? Yes! But under the circumstances, it was a sloppy affair at best.
As to your comments about Novak's bad personality, that's quite subjective. Of course he's far more emotive on court than Roger or Rafa ever were. But many don't buy Rafa's "Im a humble saint routine". His tactics might be more subtle than Novak's, but the slowdown of play during an opponent's serve, inopportune bathroom breaks, claiming "injury" on many occasions and then running like a gazelle, calling an opponent up to the net to have a chat which threw the opponent off (NOT proper protocol during a match) as he did this Wimbledon, etc. And those are just off the top of my head. NO ONE is a saint---so let's not let our player preferences turn us blind to other top players' shenanigans.

Slow grass yet nick seems to be a god on grass and suck on clay… same for many others… and all those aces flying around. Where’s norrie on clay?

sampras was my favourite player but agassi once took him to 5 and djokovic is superior to agassi in almost every category, including basline game and way superior on return.

Nick served like a machine today, in fact ala sampras in his heyday - 30 aces, 130mph first serve avg, 110+ second serve avg, this is eerily similiar to sampras stats and novak handled the serve quite well, putting so many in play. I don’t like sampras on baseline exhanges with djikovic, heck even federer seemed at a disadvantage vs djokovic on grass from baseline. Federer also had a similar game to pete and lost in 3 finals to novak. Would’ve been an interesting match for sure..

as far as goat on grass… i said IF he gets 8.. right now i’d say fed-sampras-nole

I've noted this in the past, but as good as Sampras was, we should all be embarrassed trying to elevate him to GOAT status without even appearing in a French Open final! We all were so enamoured with witnessing history, we forgot standards! We've been spoiled by Fedalovic the last couple decades, but unfortunate for future greats, they can probably forget coming close to their excellence! I'm sure Novak's detractors will have plenty to justify Fedal being their BOAT, but it'll look rather ridiculous as their names are slowly being erased out of the record books! :shushing-face: :astonished-face::fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth:

These people, i tell ya.. they act as if they are better people than djokovic. I questuon whether any of these people have the character, work ethic, integrity, discipline novak has.. their trolling is nothing more than being fanboys of fedal and hating how novak is closing in on all records… i remember some fed fans accused rafa of all sorts of things back when rafa was challenging ‘the god’ roger.. rafa was accused of cheating via getting coached by his uncle during matches (probably true), using gamesmanship by stalling points and faking injury.. he was dragged through the mud by fed fans and now rafa fans have sinked to same lows with djokovic.

now same with novak and all comes from fanboy denial… never in their wildest dreams would fedal fans ever thought novak would get to 21 and break weeks at #1.. before they attacked his game, now that they can’t, it’s that he’s a bad dude… what has djokovic done? Show some emotions on court? Lol… and refuse to take vaccine? That’s it?? They ignore all the good, focus on a few flaws and blow out of proportion. All comes down to fanboys being fanboys and projecting, probably their own flaws into djokovic.
