What finally? Right from the beginning I was saying that JMDP went out and won the match once Fed let him back in the match. I was maintaining that it was unlikely that JMDP would have won the match had Fed won the second set. I don't understand why you think these are contradictory.

Even after winning a set, many lesser players have crumbled and did not turn the momentum in their favor and ultimately win the match against Fed. So, JMDP deserves full credit for taking control of the match after that.

OK, forgive me, then. I mistook your calling JMDP a "greenhorn" for underestimating him and his performance in that final. I realize it's hard to let go of the ones you feel that got away.

Federer fans can't handle one loss like the 2009 USO vs Del Potro blaming it on tons of excuses and "bad luck". Imagine if they had to go through what Nadal fans have gone through with all the "bad luck" with injuries, withdrawals, retirements in matches, slams missed, etc. They would have all jumped from a bridge.

You really don't make it easy to be a Nadal fan around here. Do you actually have to play into all of the tropes? You and I both know that by far not all of Nadal's losses are down to injury or bad luck, right? If you could just cop to that it'd be better. We cool? Thanks.

Still, nowhere close to your ridiculous "Most likely to win RG 2019" poll that has invited tons of unnecessary bashing towards Nadal and his fans. We cool? Thanks. B-) You should learn something from Federer fans because even though many of them post things that are 100 times more ridiculous and annoying than me, they at least stick together. You won't see a Federer fan tell them "oh no this is too much, Federer isn't that great". Chill out and start being a dedicated and fun Nadal fan for once.

Who the heck blames the Del Po loss on injury or bad luck. I've never seen that from any Federer fan. Mainly we point out that he totally pissed away the 2nd set on his own and even the 4th set he had chances but Del Po held pretty strong. Anyways if Roger won the 2nd set it was over. Roger wasn't choking 2 set leads like we've seen later (2011 twice and 2018)

Also of annoying note is that Roger has handed Del Po his only notable achievements in his career. 1 major and 1 MS and both against Fed.

Heh, i obsess over many big losses if you haven't noticed

Let's just say chances are very very low that a guy in his first major final was rallying from 2 sets down against a Fed who was still playing prime tennis. Losing from 2 sets up against Tsonga, Anderson and even Novak (2011 USO) were surprising but I think a DP rally against that version of Federer would have been much more improbable. Simple as that.

Federer is apparently hitting with Tsitsipas in Dubai as part of training before AO . IMO, this is a huge mistake. Fed has never played a match against Tsitsipas. Hitting with him now, will only make Tsitsipas more comfortable when they actually play a real match. One should not select a #15 ranked, up and coming player as a hitting partner.

I see it differently. Fed is about to meet Tsi in Hopman Cup just few days away, so he wants to get to know his opponent and have a feel of his game beforehand. Otherwise it's difficult to come onto a big court against someone totally unknown.
As for the other side of the coin (Tsi getting familiar with Fed), Fed does not need to reveal his A game while hitting with him. In the end, Fed is better than Tsi in this "getting to know each secrets" game, because he has more variety of shots in his arsenal. He does not lose much by befriending his young opponents and having hit with them as he has repeatedly shown through years.
As for the danger of losing to Tsi in a big match someday (not HC tomorrow), the coin can flip otherwise: Tsi may endup in Nad/Joker quater/semi draw and thanks to the invaluable tips from Maestro, will be able to raise his level and beat both of them, clearing the draw for Maestro's another easy title. That would be the best payout Tsi would ever made for the tennis lesson he's receiving.

Fed hit with milkman last year and Milkman got him at the USO (of course, heat was partly to be blamed; but despite the heat I don't think Milkman would have won without the experience he gained by hitting with Fed).

He should pick youngsters to hit with, but not someone like Perseus who is at the verge of breakthrough.

I don't mind it. Maybe hitting with Tsitsipas will get the competitive juices flowing. Roger needs to recover some of the form he lost or he's done, simple as that. Mainly I will be looking to see if he has remembered how to serve.
