Former doubles World No1 Elina Vesnina plans to return to WTA Tour.After giving birth to her baby girl Elizaveta in 2018,Elina,now 34,will be making her turn to the court later this season.Elina is waiting for the official WTA calendar to be updated.In 2018 Vesnina froze her ranking upon taking maternity leave,and will be eligible to use that ranking,which is good for any time within three years,upon her return.Reportedly,Elina is planning to begin a partnership with Vera Zvonareva when she resumes playing.
Elina owns 19 doubles titles and has competed in 44 WTA doubles titles.Elina and Vera reached the Wimbledon doubles final as a tandem in 2010.

Timea Babos and Eugenie Bouchard will join a 128-strong field for the Australian Open qualifying event from January 10-13, which is being held in Dubai.

Kim Clijsters still plans to continue her comeback in 2021,but will not be travelling to the 2021 AO.There is a Wild Card available at the AO,it appears Clijsters does not want to take the time to quarantine prior to the AO,away from her family.With the WTA calendar still a work in progress after the AO summer,it isn't clear where Clijsters will begin to play.

Names of the WTA Tournaments that will be played in Melbourne ahead of the AO 2021.Tournaments will be named to recognise key regions of Victoria as the Melbourne Summer Series and Australian Open promote the re-invigoration of the state following the challenges faced due to both bushfires and pandemic.

WTA 500- Gipsland Trophy
WTA 500- Yarra Valley Classic

In week 2 of the AO WTA 250 Phillip Island Trophy.

49 of the Top 50 woman have committed to play and will be split between Gippsland and Yara Valley Opens,incl.A.Barty,S.Williams,N.Osaka,V.Azarenka,S.Halep and S.Kenin.

The WTA confirmed that another event will be played after the AO,on February 8.
Brisbane is shaping as the likely location for the late February tournament-classified as a WTA 500 event-which will be played immediately after the AO from February 22.

20 year old Dayana Yastremska,ranked 29th and one of the highest ranked young players on the WTA,has been provisionally suspended after testing positive for mesterolone metatbolate on December 22,for a positive testing in a urine sample on November 24,
Yastremska will now have the option to appeal the charge in court or await the final duration of the suspension from WADA.

Yastremska has a statement saying she tested 2 weeks earlier at the Linz tournament on the 9th of November and it was negative and she will work closely with her team to clear her name.
