I will go with Ivanovic. Should be easy pickings. It will be either her or Woz. If they don't win, well that is just sad.

Neither Ivanovic, nor Wozniacki are a given in any tournament. Penner ta has been more consistent then either of them since August of last year.

Penneta is 0-4 against Ana. 1-6 against Caro.

I know who is not going to win it! That would be Karin Knapp.

It wasn't commentary on Pennetta's head to head against either Ana or Caro, but, based on firm day in and out since last August. Remember, Pennetta has a master's event under her belt this year, as well as a semi's and quarter's appearance in a slam within the last year. Confidence can take you a long way.

Pavs isn't defending her title I see.

I like to mention that the defending champion is Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. Is she not playing?

Pavlyuchenkova was down to play in Charleston but withdrew. I would guess she either didn't fancy an international vs a tough field when it had Azarenka in it as well, or as 3 time champion she wanted some kind of appearance fee, and organisers weren't willing to give her one.

Three top flight women in the event with a few others to consider, I will go with the Serbian, Ana perhaps with Flavia perhaps reaching the finals too, but she is having a battle right now with Kimiko in the first set, that amazing veteran leading 6-5, and serving for the first set.

You got caught knapping on this one Kiu, Karin bounced out in the first round by Jovana Jaksic of Serbia.

#1 seed and #7 seed lost today, there's your international level event.

Wozniak made it into the main draw.

Well well two Danes in the main draw when did we see that last time ;) Ok maybe that needs a little explanation. The qualifier - present #302 - [Q] Julia Boserup (USA) has just defeated [4] [WC] Kirsten Flipkens (BEL) - current #25 - 64 16 62. Both Julias parents are Danes living in USA and their daughter is American. A similar situation as with Caroline Wozniacki. Funny I think and must be one of the biggest upsets this year:clap

original.jpg

Julia comes from California and she began playing tennis at age six, after her mother, a native of Denmark, enrolled her in group tennis lessons. She was home schooled in high school, which allowed her to focus more time on her tennis career. On April 9, 2012, she reached her highest WTA singles ranking of 174, while her best doubles ranking was 277 on October 31, 2011. She won the USTA's Dunlop Orange Bowl in 2008, outlasting fellow American Christina McHale.

Caro wins the first set 6-3, ahead 2-0 in the second, I guess this is where Coco can fall apart.

Ana to play U-Rad later.

Coco provided a tough match for Caro, Caro made very little leadway with Coco's first serve, only managing a handful of points off of that massive weapon, but lucky for Caro, Coco only had a 50% first serve conversion. Caro scored 5 aces of her own too.

It took a second set tie breaker in this roller coaster of a match but Caro converted her first match point and won it in straights 6-3 7-6

Here come Ana and Ursula

It's kinda strange when they play hard-courts in Mexico but at the same time, Clay in USA.
I thought it was suppose to be the other way around.
