Absolutely! And an interesting set of WCs: Sloane Stephens, Kim Clijsters, and Venus.

Actually this was to be Kim's first tournament back, before she received a wild card in Dubai,no comment on Sloane until she decides to show interest in tennis and actually win a first rd match, love Venus period.

Intersting match ups for today's play.
Victoria Azarenka No7 seed takes to the court for the first time since losing in the 1st rd of last year's USO to Sabalenka. She will face Tamara Zidansek for the first time.

Kim Clijsters will play No2 seed Johanna Konta, the pair have never played before.

Top seed Elina Svitolina bids to kickstart her season against Danka Kovinic.

J.Konta (2) takes the 1st set over Clijsters,winning the 4 final games,lovely fhand winner to win 63.
Johana Konta (2) defeats Kim Clijsters 63 75,Konta really moved Kim around the court,to her advantage, also Kim's timing on her return game let her down in critical times in the match.

Sloanes Stephens finally wins a 1st rd match in 2020 though it took 3 sets against a player ranked 497 in the world E.Navarro 64 57 61
Fernandez vs Stephens looks on paper to be a good match..If Fernandez has recovered from her loss vs Watson,. She will defeat Sloane maybe easily. IMO

The 17 year old rising Canadian was impressive reaching her first WTA Singles final in Acapulco last week, though hopefully with that tough win in her first rd match,Sloane can finally use that win and keep improving,no doubt Fernandez will test Sloane and I would not be surprised if Fernandez wins.
