The Tournament:

The Madrid Open, currently sponsored by Mutua Madrileña and known as the Mutua Madrid Open, is a joint men's and women's professional tennis tournament, held in Madrid, during early May. The clay-court event is classified as an ATP Tour Masters 1000 on the ATP Tour and a WTA 1000 event on the WTA Tour. In the past, it has also been known as the Madrid Masters. The tournament is traditionally played on a red clay surface. The event was played on blue courts in the 2012 tournament edition, with the ATP deciding against blue thereafter.

Ion Țiriac, a Romanian billionaire businessman and former ATP professional, was the owner of the tournament between 2009 and 2021. According to Digi Sport which interviewed Țiriac in 2019, the tournament brings to the city of Madrid annual benefits exceeding €107 million. In 2021, Țiriac sold the tournament to New York–based giants IMG for approximately €390 Million.

Apart from her ongoing back injury, Badosa picked up a small tear in her adducter playing in Stuttgart against Sabalenka, has gone out in her first round match to a Spanish player Bouzas Maneiro 62 36 63, Paula you need to take time off the tour to heal properly!
Emma Raducanu a WC defeated in straight sets by an unknown Argentina player Carle. I think Emma has to play smaller tournaments ,also she hasnt played a full tour schedule, due to injury, she has to get 'match tough'., physically and mentally
Just read that Raducanu said she was exhausted, mentally and physically after her loss? her team really need to look at her playing schedule, also she does have a lot of sponsors which at times can get in the way of training

I thought after Caroline fought back in the 3rd set being 2-4 she would go on to win the match, Errani on clay is a tough opponent

Agree. Just Errani's serve alone is calling for punishment, it's so slow it's ridiculous. Caroline just sprayed errors yesterday. Errani is good mover I give her that. Still, patience wins against those kind of players and Wozniacki didn't have it yesterday.
