Let's see if Petra can play like this against Sharapova...I mean Petra isn't known for her consistancy

Well done Petra.

Only saw the first set and then the final game. Does anyone know what happened here? Did Ana get injured or did Kvitova play lights out?

Good solid match from Serena. Coco has one of the stronger serves on tour and I hope she continues to improve and gain confidence.

Well Petra did play 'lights out' and just steam rolled Ana in the 2nd and 3rd sets
Ana did seem off to me....she also had 10df and to me was out of position to return serves.
Full credit to Petra....I just wish she could play more consistant...when she is 'on her game' she is a pleasure to watch.

Ana did have 10 DF, but look at her statistics of the 2 sets. She won 1/14 second serves in the second and 2/9 in the third. She just had to risk her second serves. She was not better in returning either - Petra won 12/13 and 12/15 of her serves. Ana just had no chance.

I did make mention of her return game...to me she seemed out of position on court? and you backed that up in your stats. Also with the stats on her serves.Regardless of Ana having no chance you have to give credit to Petra she was 'on fire'.When you looked at the first set Petra could not find the court with her shots. She really turned it around in the last 2 sets.

I did not get to watch my darling Ana today. Why was she so much interested
in eating double bagel? Does not she know that low carb food will keep her beautiful?
Can someone who saw the match tell me what happened briefly?

I started to watch the match when it was 6-3 0-2.

Petra was on fire. She was attacking immediately so no rallies existed. At first it seemed to me that she was a bit too pushy and not patient enough but it worked and drowe Ana nuts. She was trying her best to avoid short games where she clearly couldn't match Petra, but her standard shots were just blitzed back. Look at the statistics - I think there were may be 2 competitive games out of the last 12.

Well done Petra :clap
Hopefully Petra can keep this level of play for today - btw I don't understand the scheduling either.

Court 1 12:00
1 [WC] Sorana Cirstea (ROU) / Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (RUS) vs [WC] Martina Hingis (SUI) / Sabine Lisicki (GER)
...

I have been waiting for this match for 3-4 days!
I didn't know there could be this much spread between two matches!

Guess who is playing?

NO TV!

Sabine/Martina won the first set 6-2
Ahead 4-0 min the second.

Sabine stayed in the doubles although she pulled out of the singles?

I don't think I've ever of heard of that before.

Yeah, I am so confused why Sabine would pull out of singles and stay in doubles. That makes no sense to me. Most people pull out of doubles to save themselves for singles play or pull out entirely.

Exactly. I'm also wondering why this is even allowed. Seems fishy.

Last match they played was last Friday! That's 3 days rest in between matches, has anyone seen that before?

This is what happens to you when your coach is your doubles partner :puzzled

Their next match will be interesting. It is against Sania Mirza and Cara Black.
Folks might remember that Black and Huber dominated doubles at one time.
Now, apparently Black visited India during the off season (december) just to train
together with Sania and the two of them are hoping to make an impact.
They are regular partners this year and are not a random pairing.
