Sometimes you get caught in a match - facinating to see two good baseline players use 3h 26min and 16 breaks of serve to get throgh to second round

Watson wins a hardcourt match on US soil. I was listening to the commentary. She was 0-10 in hard court matches in the US, yet all of her WTA titles are on hard courts. I believe she was the US Open junior girls champion as well. Glad to see she pulled this one out of the hat as she was down a set and a break. Good for Heather....

In her press conference in Miami Naomi Osaka said after last weeks incident at IW she has finally seen a therapist.
Naomi said her sister Mari, was concerned and suggested this route may help.

While we wait for the post for Miami WTA 1000

A couple of interesting match ups for Thursday,

Leylah Fernandez first match will be against a rusty though talented Karolina Muchova ( coming back from injury, won her 1st match back)

Osaka v Kerber....Osaka had no trouble winning her first rd match in Miami, this could be a trickier match for Naomi

K.Muchova d L.Fernandez 64 76(3)...I thought this could be a tricky match for Fernandez.I love watching Muchova all court game,it is good to see her back playing tennis again, after her injury woes from last year ( USO 2021)

Did you see my message to you earlier
I saw Clara retired in her match in the 3rd set? do you know what the injury was?....thanks

Well this picture sums up the greatness of Ash - thank you for the way you are and were through your career - you will be missed

Clara was not feeling well from the start - she's not good with heat otherwise she would have won that match without problems, but that's tennis. Next tournament for her is Istanbul 250 tournament on clay.

Oh Dear,

Emma Raducanu (11) was up a set and 3-1,also 5-3 and serving for the match but falls to Katerina Siniakova 36 64 75
Emma still cannot win 2 back to back matches so far this year on the WTA tour.I also read she picked up a new sponsor Porsche the other day.

Her win at the Open is looking kinda flukish and next she will be complaining about fans and media.

I do not know what the problem is,she has a new coach, she certainly is not the same player we saw at the USO,she certainly has lost her way mentally and her game

Iga Swiatek will be the New No 1 player, she needs to win 'one match' in Miami ( because of Ash Barty's immediate retirement and her wish for her ranking to be withdrawn after the Miami cycle).
Swiatek will play Golubic her first match on Friday
