I been looking at the U S Open mens singles competition which has the record of 35 matches that went Five sets.
Methinks Fritz Buehning win over Chips Hoover in section 6 shouldn't be counted as Hoover retired at 0-2 in the fifth.
Therefore i can understand some commentators stating the '83 US Open produced 34 (completed) five setters.
What do others think.
