Can't remember anybody pushing Rafa to a TB this clay season.

Goffin just did it two days ago...

Thiem defense on Rafa's overheads is brilliant

I agree...AP

This is some high level Clay court match right now...

Valiant fight by DT. But, I won't give him more than three games in the second set.

Thiem needs to realize right now that being a champion isn't just about winning that tiebreak, but maintaining focus after losing it.

Not so fast gsm..Thiem came to play..I expect him to force Rafa to the brink..Rafa isnt serving as well as a he did all this week but the rest of his game is at the highest level.. Lets see how much pain Rafa inflicts on the young man

If Thiem was 2-3 years younger, I'd think he'd be a possible future #1 - he'd look like a young player with tremendous upside. But the fact that he's 23 and hits an enormous amount of unforced errors, with a game that lacks diversity and finesse, I don't see him being much more than a dangerous second tier type. He reminds me a bit of Tsonga, actually.

Nadal's defense in this match has been phenomenal! He literally is playing like 2005-2013 Clay Nadal right now.

I feel bad for Thiem right now because he is playing perfect tennis but he can't break Nadal.

I wonder if he would be better served knowing how to moderate his game a bit. He seems like he wants to kill the ball every time he hits it.

I agree that Rafa is playing phenomenally, but don't agree about perfect tennis from Thiem. Too many unforced errors. I know a lot of those are caused by Rafa's play, but quite a few aren't.

Again Rafa in total control at the net with an overhead and DT keeps the ball in play and retakes controls of the match

Also, as I said, Thiem lacks diversity. He hits the ball as hard as he can, corner to corner. Not much else.

Nadal right now is starting to miss some routine shots right now so we might see a competitive set.

Rafa's working the old okey-doke. Rope-a-dope. Shut 'em down, kid. Sling a lasso round 'is neck and haul 'm to the floor. Vamos!
