Usually, even when Fed sucks he will be able to hold his serves on grass. Even that is not happening now.

That's the worry, and this isn't his good friend Tommy Haas that he went soft for last year not to mention Haas at age 100 should have a better chance to break Roger than Mischa.

Fed holds safely for 5-4.

Now, let us see whether he can put pressure and get a break here.

I'm not watching but for those who are what the f is going on with his serve? He has a decent % so is it just a lack of placement and MPH or is he missing every ball that gets put in play?

Nice break to close out the set. That last short backhand slice works great on grass. Roger has to remember to use that one more .

Roger holds at love and sings "used to be my playground ...... it is all coming back to me".

Fed digs a minihole to go down 0-30 and then gets out of it to go up 4-1.

Roger's % of points won on both 1st and 2nd serve are extremely low for grass.

I guess one good thing is that he's had some tricky situations, that's good for match play. Now just a game away.

Lol! Just noticed this thread and all the fretting and hysteria. Playing against a serve and volley guy isn't the way to get rhythm, so it's a tough start. Sounds like his base level of play must already be decent, it's just getting the eye back in

Good job to right the ship and win. Tricky first rounder . His return looked better than his service games. He needs to pick it up and have more of those 53 second service games and save his body.

Breaks to win! On grass if he is breaking even somewhat frequently there isn't anyone who will beat him. Just got to get the rust off and embrace the greed. Greed is my favorite word in sports. Roger just needs to stay greedy, these next 8 months are the most important of his career IMO. I want and expect 10 Wimby's overall

Roger's % of points won on both 1st and 2nd serve are extremely low for grass.

At the end, Fed had 68% first serves in, 75% pts won on first serve and 57% points won on second serve. Not bad at all. But, yes for grass, you expect all these numbers to be up by 10 more % pts.
