Roger is playing in this 100th edition of Mercedes Cup. Roger will also be pocketing huge appearance fee as he committed to this tourney almost an year ago.

Here are the top 8 seeds.

1.Federer, Roger
2 Cilic, Marin
3 Thiem, Dominic
4 Simon, Gilles
5 Lopez, Feliciano
6 Troicki, Viktor
7 Kohlschreiber, Philipp
8 Dimitrov, Grigor

This is a 28 player draw and so the top 4 seed will get a bye. Kohly usually plays well in grass warm-ups in Germany.

Thiem could pull out ??

No, he won't. Youngsters generally keep playing on. Also, being a top 4 seed he will also get 1st round bye. That would mean he could play his first match as late as Thursday if he wants to.

Considering that today is Friday and his event is over in Paris, he will be just fine to play anyday, and he will probably not start until Wednesday.

The draw is out.

Here is projected path of Federer.

1st Rd: Bye
2nd Rd: Taylor Fritz or Qualifier
QF: Troicki
SF: Thiem / Deliciano
F: Cilic / Kohlschrbrier

First round of qualifiers is over. Stepanek and Stakhovsky have won the first round. With one more win they can get into the main draw.

Added bonus: JMDP makes a cameo appearance, but will most probably win his opening match against Grigor.

Some relief, Fritzy does not get to play Stepanek this time around;)
Radek made the main draw again, and the honour will be Istomin's to play him.
Fritzy will play a mysterious French player, Martin, who currently has no singles ranking, he was as high as 228 a few years back.

FKBF (Dimitrov) once again disappointed. He's turned into an utter dud.

He should hire a psychologist. Something needs to be done, because this is a total disaster.

FKBF is on a big downwards spiral. JMDP has not played for the last 10 years and plays with one hand and even then he was able to dismiss FKBF in straight sets. Further the second set was not even close. Apparently, he has openly admitted being in crisis. See the following passage from SI.

Grigor Dimitrov. Athletes possess—and this is almost an occupational necessity—tremendous powers of denial. When you characterize your struggles as “scary” and openly concede, “I’ve lost a lot of confidence in myself,” that says a great deal.

And that is exactly why he needs a psychologist. There is a mental issue here which can be addressed.
Hire a consultant a.s.a.p.
