He lost to qualifiers both in 2011 - D. Young and 2012 G.G. Lopez.
This was always one of his weakest HC masters for some reason.

You make it sound like Roger chose to have a surgery instead of making a fool of himself playing at IW
I am sure he skipped this event at the advise of his doctor.

Verdasco is now ranked 65, and beside beating Rafa at the AO, he is a punching bag all season.
Defeating Verdasco will not mean much in the larger picture.

It appears that when he plays against Rafa, Verdasco is allowed to turn back the clock due to Rafa's unagressive play
El Dude said:Meanwhile, Alex Zverev wins another, handily defeating Gilles Simon 6-2, 6-2. This kid is legit, y'all.
Next he'll face either Verdasco or Rafa. Rafa would be a nice accomplishment for him.

Here is the reason. He typically will lose at AO to Novak or to someone else, missing another opportunity to grab a GS trophy. Then, he will sulk for 3 or 4 months, before getting into winners circuit. This is his general pattern.

I wonder why Coric said he is the best of his generation. I guess players have to have that kind of mentality to survive the tour, but he looks silly saying that.
