Vika needs to improve her serve. She outdid Pova in the doubles count, 9-8. That is shameful. Pova now has a green light to the final. Let's hope Serena is there to win the title. It would be hard to swallow a Pova win in the year Serena returns.

Even if Sharapova does make it to the final and Serena is also there

It will be the same old, same old

As one of my favorite tennis journalist's Christopher Clarey, who often writes for the NYC times and I quote...

" Serena Williams v Maria Sharapova is a complete non rivalry in tennis'

I meant that if Serena is not at the final, Pova will likely win the title. If both make the final, the outcome is predictable, barring injury.

Looking at some interesting match ups today, the following caught my eye

Elina Svitolina (one of my fav youngsters) v Timea Bacsinszky( who is having a great season so far)

This will be the first time these 2 players have met.

Caroline Garcia v Sabine Lisicki

Halep v Pliskova...I think Pliskova can win this time around, though I must credit the way Halep fought hard in her last match, query is with her ankle?

CSN v Watson....the only time these 2 players met was back in 2011 on a HC in Auckland,Heather Watson won.

Timea had given up pro tennis after the last injury. It was sheer luck that she realized she had enough points to play a low level tournament. This win streak is an incredible story.

Can Liscki keep the ball on court? I doubt it.

I wonder why players don't wear sunglasses and ankle braces.

Is it just me or has Heather Watson's first and 2nd serves improved?

Heather to serve for the 1st set against CSN 5-4

In a closely fought t/break CSN wins the 1st set 76(5)...Heather's downfall was she made too many ufe earlier in the t/break

What a roller coaster ride the Serena-Stephens match is! Stephens leads 3-0 and up two breaks, Serena catches up and then takes the lead and has a set point at 5-4 but Stephens holds. They get to a tiebreak and now Stephens wins the TB 7-3!

I've been having trouble on and off today too. Good to see Serena right the ship. Hope Stephens can keep it close in the third.
