It's hard to take this exh. Tourney in the Middle East seriously! The 6 Kings Slam is so contrived, literally throwing millions of dollars at all the players just to show up! I didn't watch it, but looking at the scores, all the main matches ended up w/ relatively the same score w/ the winner only dropping 6 games in the SF's & Final! Again Novak was right w/ them until he retired in the rel. match for 3rd! :fearful-face::face-vomiting::face-with-hand-over-mouth::astonished-face:
Except for that kind of money, you know they're going to try to win it.

As Christopher Clarey pointed out today both Sinner and Alcaraz werent playing 'Exhibition Tennis in the final of the Six Kings Slam
Sinner, serving and ball striking was of the highest quality.
He also said looking forward to the ATP home stretch!

I keep bringing it back to the players kvetchin' about the schedule, how tired they are, & length of the season! Pls! I keep hearing about Jannik or Carlos jumping on a plane to perform in an exh. match! They're the 1st elite players at the top of the ranks to routinely have to WD, retire, or need to rest after a tough tourney! Even Rafa wasn't having this much trouble getting out there early on! It was a lot tougher IMO w/ unforgiving situations like playing MAJOR SF & Finals on cons. days! I've been quite sympathetic regarding how physical matches have gotten the last several yrs! A novel idea w/b for them to actually rest like Novak when away from competing! Most are still good for a $$ grab at the drop of a hat!:pleading-face::face-with-head-bandage:

Get your facts straight!
The Six Kings Slam is the only exhibition match Jannik has scheduled no he dosent jump on planes to perform, yes he did have to retire in Shanghai as he could not stand up and to be helped off court? also this is the first exhibition match this year that Carlos signed up for, he has 2 exhibition matches later in the year after the season ends.Carlos was sensible in his decision not to play Shanghai as he had a grade 2 ankle sprain, which he sustained in the Japan Open, his last tournament win!

Just an update regarding Holger Rune,
According to several Danish outlets including "Ekstra Bladest" and 'TV2 Sport", Rune will undergo testing on his left achilles/calf on Sunday to determine the severity.Rune's mother, Anke updated, via text message that her son would most likely require surgery for the torn achilles, with a recovery time of up to six months.

Holger Rune confirms the worst possible news, via his instragram page today
Its unlikely we will see him on the court before the US Open in 2026 and that's if all goes perfect with his rehab.
Rune achilles is fully broken on the proximal part meaning he will have a operation next week and after that rehabilitation.
That is just terrible news for the 22 yo and I hope his rehab is 100% successful!

I watched a bit of the Six Kings final. Jannik was just overwhelming - from what I saw, Carlos never seemed to have a chance. One thing that really stood out to me is that Jannik seemed to better anticipate Carlos' drop shots. I think we shouldn't overstate Carlos' edge over Jannik, because it seems that they may be in a back-and-forth "dialogic development." Carlos edges ahead, then Jannik adapts. Then Carlos goes on a run, rinse and repeat. It is like two battling Borg from Star Trek.

I noticed that Jannik has tweaked his serve, apparently after the USO he has been working on it, paid off well, after it went AWOL in the final at the USO, one time his first serve was just 48% Meh!
Lets see how he fares in Vienna next week.

FAA wins his 3rd title of 2025 and also the first player to win the title at Brussels twice defeating Lehecka 76(2) 67(6) 62
Felix is now ninth in the ATP live race to Turin, narrowing the gap to Musetti to just 330 points.
I like his chances during the European indoor swing.

Playing the Swiss Indoors Basel, on a wild card this week, Stan Wawrinka says he's not considering closing the curtain on his career. The 40 yo Wawrinka, who posted a 2-11 record in 2025, said he plans to play Athens next month and hopes to play a bit in 2026 as well.
"I enjoy what I am doing and enjoy waking up and going to practice and still have the chance to play at such a nice tournaments like here" Wawrinka said.
"As long as I am enjoying that, I am going to keep pushing a little bit".

I hope Felix gets the spot. He's getting hot at the right time, and could do some damage in the ATP Finals. Musetti would be a waste of space.

Felix does well in the indoor tournaments so the timing appears to be right for him, to make the ATP finals

Solid win from Fonseca, making his debut in Basel, takes out the defending champion Perricard in straight sets 76(6) 63, he will play Jakub Mensik in his second round match.
Note: GMP will leave the Top 50 one year after making his Top 30 debut, 2025 didnt go as planned.
