Front242,

Sinner has 76 wins - 21 losses indoor record
Indoor titles at Vienna, Montpellier, Antwerp and Sofia ( multiple times) making him a formidable opponent in indoor conditions
Sinner won the 2024 ATP finals without dropping a set.

Alcaraz indoor hard court record includes a 5-0 record for 2025 and a 2-1 record in the ATP Finals 2023
Resulting in an overall win - loss record of 5-1 in 2025
Thanks Margaret. Google AI overview is so handy. I see it's 26-12 for Alcaraz which is pretty damn poor by comparison. Sure, he won Rotterdam this year and there are many who never won an indoor title, but it's still by far his worst surface.

It is not his best surface in comparison to other surfaces, though he is only 22 and I feel he has the overall game to improve on indoor surfaces

Alcaraz & Sinner splitting up to each headline Japan & China Opens is a savvy move by the ATP to market their 2 best players.

Wonder how much $$$$ Alcaraz was thrown to switch to Japan & not defend his Beijing crown.

He had a scare in the opening set in Japan with an injury:

W/o the Big 3, the Men's Tour may have to pull something reminiscent of 40 yrs. ago; Navratilova/Evert scheduling! These 2 women literally agreed to spread themselves evenly amongst events outside of the Majors! I recall specifically where Evert & Navratiova went to the HOF event in consective yrs.; Evert winning in '84, Navratilova in '85! The men aren't as threadbare in the rankings when it comes to star power, but only the 2 top players are truly competing, taking the last 9 Major events including the YEC last Nov.! I personally also think $$$ was thrown at Alcaraz, but it makes sense for Alcaraz & Sinner to split up at 500 level events if available! I still think they're playing too much, but you can't stop kids with $$ & tons of adulation being offered! :astonished-face::yawningface::fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth:

Smart idea, otherwise Fritz would be the #1 seed in Tokyo and we'd have another volume of Alcasin. They'll see each other soon enough when it's time for the Masters.

Upsets occur; esp. in the Fall when players are tired and/or unmotivated! How much can Carlos & Jannik have in them at this time of the year; esp. after playing these warm-up events taking abuse by very competitive players hungry to make a name for themselves? We all know Carlos can have a "double whammie" on him; physically & mentally as he still overplays pts. trying to make highlite reels! Faux emotion on court can be a lot IMO! Sorry to seem old, but give me the good old days of a quick handshake & very quiet celebration after a win! :fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth::astonished-face::angry-face:

Marca reports that Alcaraz is still feeling pain in his left ankle after 24h after what happened yesterday in his match against Baez
He has decided to rest today to try to be in the best possible condition for the next round.

Keep in mind, Jannik hasn't won a tournament outside of the slams this year. I think he absolutely needs to win some of these tournaments, to rack up the title numbers, to validate his multi-slam year. Roger and Novak, even in years when they didn't win more than one slam, racked up 6 or 7 titles and 60-70 match wins in a season in much tougher competition than with Jannik has right now. I know Jannik was suspended for a quarter of the year, but as of now, his prorated win totals don't match up. If he could finish with 50 match wins and 4-5 titles, it will make his 2025 season look that much better.

But I think the ATP Finals should be 2 weeks after the US Open. Playing these fall tournaments in between takes away some of the excitement of the ATP Finals. Those tournaments can be played in November as a longer ramp up to the Australian Open.

Gee Phil,
Jannik is beginning to 'live rent free in your head' isnt he? :)

Carlos Alcaraz who had a injury scare ( in his previous match) where he appeared to 'jar or twist his ankle' admitted that while he wasnt at 100%, he felt good enough to compete in his match against Bergs, winning in straight sets 64 63 in Japan

Anyone know Fonseca's planned schedule for the rest of the year? @mrzz ?
I was going to post his schedule yesterday and forget :)

Fonseca wont be playing Asian tour
Fonseca will play Brussels, Basel, Paris-Bercy and Metz and he wont be defending his Next Gen title in 2025
He does have a exhibition match in December 8th, in Miami against Alcaraz
