Rafa made a good change to his schedule this year. Instead of going to South America and playing in meaningless clay tourneys, he has decided to duke it out on hard courts. He is set to play in Rotterdam 500 and Acapulco 500 in February as preparation for the North American back to back ATP 1000 tourneys of IW and Miami. Even though, this is kind of overplaying, this is much better than taking the stupid SA trip in February.

Hey, we actually like to see this top dogs play once in a while... even if in recovery mode.

Nothing against SA personally. Hope to visit sometime.

Also, Sao-Paulo is home to the world's best indoor clay tourney. :snicker

^Cool, GSM (in fact I agree with you, but I had to stand my ground).

BTW São Paulo is not indoors anymore. Too bad, as it was a few blocks from home... it is now on an old tennis club and I doubt it may last long.

The Emirates US Open Bonus Challenge Series is eliminated from this year. :clap It took them a long time to realize that there is not a single player who plays in any of these warm up tourneys because of this Bonus Challenge (and who otherwise would not play in there). :snicker Good move folks. Now, spend that money on developing young talents in tennis.

I think it's not bad idea to play in Acapulco before IW, he has now plenty time to rest and hopefully to practice the serve :please:

Tough for the tournament to lose both Rafa and Stan.

Krajicek must be sad and disappointed, I guess he'll offer someone a WC to replace his 2 "stars"

Roger Federer commits to play Swiss Indoors Basel through 2019. This surely also means he'll hang around till the 2020 Olympics imo and then maybe play Basel one last time and call it quits there. Unless of course he manages to make the cut for the WTF in which he'd hardly quit after Basel and play the WTF too. He already said he wanted to play a few more years but seeing him commit to tournaments is great for fans as we have at least a set date he'll at least play until and likely further as mentioned given 2020 will be an Olympic year.

Why would he play till 2019 when 2020 is an Olympic year?! I'm pretty sure if healthy he'll be there.

Acapulco looks like the best ATP 500 I have seen in a while. Looking at the field, there are so many who could potentially win the title. Has 70% of the good players you would see in a masters.

Acapulco looks like a decent field now with Nole getting the wildcard.

I'll have to watch Mexico for the 1st time in years! That's some draw! :clap  :dodgy: :popcorn

Is Novak's shoulder ok?

If the draw's too hard, you'd put the final at risk in Dubai! Federer's no spring chicken and this run isn't going to last forever! I just wonder how hard Murray will play to get to that final if Fed's there waiting? It would be very embarrassing for him if he can't take a set off the old guy as in the latest contests they've had! :dodgy: :cover

Federer isn't 100% fit yet so Murray has more chance than usual.

Novak gets scolded by his wife Jenna for not thanking her for filming the practice session. The scolding was broadcasted live on facebook as Jenna did not realize that the live session was not over.

May be their post Hollywood patch-up is not all that good. If so, it will surely affect the performance of Novak in the upcoming NA Masters tourneys.
