What a great performance by Cilic. Still won't be an easy match for Roger should he get past Monfils.

Darth are you keeping an eye on Caruana Carlsen? This looks really fascinating now!

Nope, I have nowhere to follow it and I'm at work.

ah! I'm just using Chessbomb. Caruana has a pawn wall, leaving Carlsen with a bad queenside knight. But Caruana's king is still in the centre. Now Carlsen has been forced into an e7-e5 blockade with a fianchettoed dark square bishop. Doesn't make much sense to me, but I'm not going to argue with a 2850+ guy! If he can get a draw he's done well I think...

^the strongest tournament ever. In St Louis. No 1 vs no 2. No. 2 is currently 7 - 0 in the tournament. Possibly the most ridiculous winning streak in chess history. There've been other winning streaks, but not against this level of player. And the no. 2 ranked guy looks like he's going to win this one. Awesome to watch :)

Ah, now I know who you mean. He was profiled in The New Yorker a few years ago:

He tested positive for nikethamide, a respiratory stimulant used to increase endurance at high altitudes that he apparently got from a glucose tablet.

Is that how he got the nickname "cough drop"??

Yup. He's an exceptional player. But keep an eye on the guy he's playing. Not as "sexy" but extremely gifted chess player

If anyone has The Tennis Channel, they're currently showing a wheelchair men's singles match. They don't shown them often, but it's worth watching. Quite inspirational, actually.

I'm not home, but I went to one once at the Open. It was impressive to watch all that goes into getting around on the court AND hitting a tennis ball.

Well this year was a serious missed opportunity for him with Rafa out as he matches up well against Fed should he make it past Monfils. He should be pretty disappointed with himself as he could have made the final.
