The Tournament:
The Paris Masters (formerly known as the Paris Open, and currently called the Rolex Paris Masters for sponsorship reasons) is an annual tennis tournament for male professional players held in Paris, France. It is played indoors at the La Defense Arena, and is held Nanterra in late October. The event is part of the Masters 1000 series on the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Tour.

The tournament evolved from the French Covered Court Championships. Beginning with the Open Era, it was held at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin until 1982. In 1989 it was upgraded to the Grand Prix Tour (Grand Prix Super Series). The event is usually the final tournament on the calendar before the season-ending ATP Finals. For sponsorship reasons, the event was officially known from 2003 to 2016 as BNP Paribas Masters, and from 2017 has been called the Rolex Paris Masters. It was also referred to as the Paris Indoor event and as Bercy to distinguish it from the other significant tennis tournament held in Paris, the French Open, which is held outdoors in the 16th arrondissement of Paris.

About Paris:

Paris is the capital and largest city of France. With an official estimated population of 2,102,650 residents in January 2023 in an area of more than 105 km2 (41 sq mi), Paris is the fourth-largest city in the European Union and the 30th most densely populated city in the world in 2022. Since the 17th century, Paris has been one of the world's major centres of finance, diplomacy, commerce, culture, fashion, and gastronomy. For its leading role in the arts and sciences, as well as its early and extensive system of street lighting, in the 19th century, it became known as the City of Light.

The City of Paris is the centre of the Île-de-France region, or Paris Region, with an official estimated population of 12,271,794 inhabitants in January 2023, or about 19% of the population of France. The Paris Region had a GDP of €765 billion (US$1.064 trillion, PPP) in 2021, the highest in the European Union. According to the Economist Intelligence Unit Worldwide Cost of Living Survey, in 2022, Paris was the city with the ninth-highest cost of living in the world.

Paris Update:
OUT: Humbert
IN: Royer ( LL, will play against Davidovich Fokina )
Humbert R/U in Paris 2024, will drop 600 points and leave the Top 30, unlikely to be seeded at the AO as well.

Apparently Shapo has recovered from his knee pain? which forced him to retire in their match in Basel, after practice in Paris has decided not to withdraw, lets see how he fares against Fonseca in Paris, apparently the conditions are not as fast as last year.

Commies I heard thought the conditions were pretty slow and low-bouncing.

The Fonz strikes again with his second win over Shapo in the last couple weeks. Same pattern: Shapo wins the first, Fonz wins the next two.

Players are now upset regarding the balls, Felix said after his match, even though he won, says this has been a long time issue, the balls are not even round and dont bounce the right way? maybe because of the courts being low bouncing, just my thoughts, I need to look more closely and probably need my glasses on, would be a good idea lol!
BTW Dunlop is the official ball of the ATP tour.

Alcaraz struggling with the court speed, slow and low bouncing, not a lot of room for error, and timing of his shots, has made 19 ufe in the 2nd set, looks frustrated, needs to re-set his game
Cam Norrie takes full advantage and wins the 2nd set 63
Going 3 as Carlos won the 1st set 64
Carlos having a lively discussion with his coach JCF in the break

Can Cam Norrie take out the No 1 player Alcaraz serving for the match at 5-4 in the 3rd set
Norrie with MPs and Alcaraz just shakes his head
Net cord helped Alcaraz there
Still a MP for Norrie
Norrie gets it done 46 63 64
Alcaraz never looked comfortable at all on the court and 54 UFE in his match, very 'unlike Alcaraz"
The first time in his career that Norrie has beaten a world No 1

Same ol'! The upsets continue w/ Alcaraz going down in flames to Norrie! We shouldn't be shocked! Paris has always been one of those events where there are so many variables! Players come in tired, injured, m/b w/ "end of season" pressures to make Turin! It's a crap-shoot, even for the elites to survive! Then there's the speed of the court! Normally it's like a "pane of glass" quick, but I've heard they've slowed the court down! The Big 3 weren't as subseptible to upset, but this New-Gen of players prob. w/b vulnerable! Carlos' already gone! We'll see if Jannik gets thru! Vacherot is on a roll after winning Shanghai! He'll play his cousin, Rinderknech in the 2nd Rd.! :astonished-face::yawningface::fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth:
