It seems like there's still a lot for Alcaraz to tighten up in his game, but there's time.
It seems some times he plays a little loose. The more I watch, the more I think he’s just not pressing as hard because he doesn’t need to. When he plays Novak, he tightens things up and raises his level.

Sasha not getting up to his first serve, could be either back, legs or hip flexor problem

No. PE ..Sinner would have blasted Foe off the court IMO..Sasha Zverev was committed to keeping Jannik penned to the baseline..they ran each other's junk into the concrete last night.. Foe takes too many mental breaks during the match which you CAN'T vs Novak! Trust me both players especially Sinner is feeling what Clubber Lane predicted before his fight vs Rocky Balboa...PAIN

That Mr. T Starter Set is hanging heavily around Zverev’s neck.

(Eternal thanks to Courier for that phrase.)
That one took me a minute.

Clutch volley from Charly to save one of his BPs
Great defense and able to neutralize the point from Charly and saves the BPs against him

You got to feel bad for Zverev. He's sort of getting his form back, but Alcaraz is surging and Novak is still going strong. He really might end up being the greatest Slamless player of the Open Era.

Most big titles without a Slam:
8 Zverev
6 Rios
4 Okker, Mecir, A Medvedev, Davydenko
3 Gottfried, Solomon, Clerc, Chesnokov, Corretja, Enqvist, Nalbandian, Tsitsipas

A year or two ago, as Zverev walked out from the locker room, Courier said, “I see Sasha is still rocking the Mr. T Starter Set.” I nearly did a spit take.
I always figured that was a bit of a Russian thing...Safin had one, as well, and it was only in matches, not practice.

One might almost feel bad for Zverev, but he does have some control over his own fortunes.

another rather dullish QF, save Charly's highlight reel. Really too bad the all-American QF is the only competitive one of the bunch of eight

It's not that dull when there are highlight reel shots. Certainly better than what I watched of Medvedev d. Rublev.

BTW Ben Shelton had a hamstring problem in his mixed doubles SF earlier today, I hope it will be okay for his SF match with Novak,, Townsend and Ben lost to Jess/Austin the No 1 seeds

True, true. From a historical/stat-nerd perspective, he has an interesting career. 8 big titles is a LOT -- and he's got two Tour Finals and an Olympics gold among them. Just given his age, he's probably going to win several more and end up with 30+ titles (he's at 19 now). But he's also a guy who I could really see never winning a Slam.

If he was 5-10 years younger, he'd probably have far fewer big titles. Kei Nishikori never won one, and his Elo isn't much lower (2296). Ferrer only has one.

To be fair to Zverev, though, he didn't just have cake-walks in his big title wins. He had to beat at least one of the Big Three in all but two of his big titles. So maybe unlike Kei or Ferrer, he had explosive flashes of weaponry to beat the best. I suppose he was more like a slightly better and more consistent Tsonga, at least for a few years. Or maybe a lesser Stanimal with less back-bone and endurance.
