Interesting comparison to Wawrinka, Teddy. Good points. Speaking of Stan, he's in a fight with Struff. Andy had a battle with Verdasco today, too. I watched a good bit of that match. Fernando is still dangerous, in streaks, and Andy has probably got the nerves about how much he has to do to finally get the #1.

maybe just rough similarities -- i mean in the sense that they've been ''around" in their respective age levels and career levels...

remember how years ago stan already was known to have that great backhand ? and his forehand was somewhat less reliable? but always also considered a ''iron-man" type but not able to make a breaktrhough?

not that jack WILL be like that and actually reach a MAJOR TITLE level...so many candidates -- but it's a similar case to me in terms of his ''forehand super weapon" and the backhand is a little less..buit also considered a very good athleticl -- all court -- player. AND does have a big game of his own.

maybe i'm just projecting -- because i want SOCK to win a major, lol. i mean -- i just feel very well disposed towards his game and his attitude. u know? his improvements in his career - including sharpening his over-all game with doubles - shows a guy who really has a good professional attitude towards his game, trying to become as well-rounded as he could -- i like that.

oh no question on ANDY and a NEW pressure so close to his face now..imagine -- for the first time he has a chance to deliver for himself - just win the title and HE gets number one? that's BIG for anyone...

but especially for andy at this point in his career.

to ADD to his legitimacy as among the top players of the era - a NUMBER ONE status - and doing it by rivaling the fully -acknowledged number one NOLE of the last 3 years or so now.

for NOLE it is also a BIG pressure considering his recent dip which is NATURAL -- i mean he's only human too.

so -- this is a really big deal week, it looks like.

but still the ATP finals is where things get decided in total, i think. regardless of POINTS.

OHMY-- i didn't realize JACK SOCK has such a beautiful LOB? it reminded me of the great hands of LLEYTON HEWITT on lobs. those were a thing to behold -- so beautiful.

I agree, Moxie. Not to mention that Andy is getting closer to that number one and he hasn't had to face Novak since his resurgence. I wonder if Andy will get the yips when everything is on the line.

FORGIVE ME for i have sinned...but i didn't like stan beating nole in USO.

even with my big favorites, including nole - i USUALLY don't get ''bitter" towards the guy that beats my fav in that match...whether it's the famous rivals - nole against rafa, rafa over nole, andy over this and that guy -- i like them all.

and i'm also usually very happy for the guys that don't have so much ''glory days'' yet and could use some of their own...

but i just really can't stand wawrinka..he just grates on my nerves somehow...

it's SINFUL i know but i have to indulge myself a little bit....

next time -- Britbox - please EDIT it and HIGHLIGHT these things

that time when HE beat MY favorite Petey S...Oh my -- i was also so impressed not just with lleyton's legs all over -- and his fight -- but THAT lob in his rounds on his way to his finals win.

it's just so PRECISE and so pretty, u know??

i mean -- i WAS annjoyed at HIM - looking at his racket like that, fixing the strings as he walked back to position after a point and beating MY pete , making him look like an old man? lol.

BUT LIKE it or not -- gotta say BEAUTIFUL combativeness and those lobs ...when a guy is good -- he's good. period.

WORD of admiration needs to be said for the Belgian DAVID GOFFIN -- now playing MARIN CILIC.

amazing accomplishment considering he probably has the least powerful game of them - amazing how he puts himself in contention among the ''big guns". really.

JACK SOCK outplaying gasquet - with some nifty soft shots ...

one was a spectacular RETURN of serve from the baseline for a very soft drop shot just over the net...wow.

Same here, Teddy. I was so sad during that match, but Lleyton deserved that win. Sometimes you just have to say too good. I was always a fan of Lleyton. I loved his fight.
