Can't believe that so many top players are playing in a tourney right after USO week.

I know, it’s surprising. When I created the thread, I double checked the dates because I couldn’t believe it either.

Simona Halep was also due to play but withdrew with injury....these players need to rest for at least a week or two, coming to the end of the season they are also prone to pick up injuries.

She is currently ranked #83. That is already good enough to fetch her main draw entry all grand slam events, provided she can maintain or improve her ranking or at least not let it go above 100.

She should easily be able to make at least $200,000 even if she loses in the first round of all four GSs.

Having said that, I think she will not lose like that and she will definitely be on the move up next year. However, I think her best case scenario would be to try to end up in top 32 by the end of next year so that in the following year, she can get a seeded spot in GSs.

Kerber contiues her dismal year losing in 3 sets to A.Riske 57 64 76(6) not certain if she is still carrying a injury though she received a W/C into the tournament.

Apart from this tournament, there are a couple of other tournaments she could have played in Asia at present, one in Nanchang and the other in Hiroshima,to me,she needs to build on the platform she showed at the USO.

She could have built her ranking up on this momentum...

The final was delayed by nearly six hours after torrential rain all day, there were two further breaks in play during the match.

Karolina Pliskova catptured a tour leading fourth title of 2019 defeating Petra Martic 63 62.

Glad for my country girl Martic doing so well this tournament. Pitty she could not win it and that the final was kind of ruined due to weather.
