WTA NÃœRNBERGER VERSICHERUNGSCUP
Sorry, didn't see a thread for this event, so figured better late than never.
I'm probably one of the few people here in the States that is an actual Karin "K"-napp fan - comes from meeting her years ago, and mistaking her for Anna-Lena Groenefeld - she laughed and was incredibly polite about it, and utterly charming in the brief moment or two we talked.
Girl has had a career marked with major health issues - a serious heart condition that required surgery back in 2008, knee surgery in 2010, other injuries along the way that keep interupting her rise up the rankings. Seems like every time she looked to be meeting/exceeding expectations, something came up that halted her progress.
Today she made it to the semifinals of this event with a convincing win over Arrubarrena, and will face Roberta Vinci in the final. A win in the final would put her knocking at the door of the Top 40 again (her career high ranking is 35), and would be her 2nd career title (she won Tashkent in 2014).
