Then Mahut lost to Seppi. The QFs are nearly set. Awaiting the winner of Anderson - Querrey, with SQ up a set, and Isner - Kuskushkin, which follows.

QFists, so far:

Rosol
Seppi
Lu (d. Granollers)
JJanovicz (yes…he's still in)
Goffin
GG Lopez (d. Donald Young in 3)

UPDATE: Querrey through in 2.

Rosol is up to world number 33 on the live rankings now. Making decent progress.

Isner withdrew from the QF with a sprained ankle. Good prep for the US Open as always.

Isner's withdrawal means the USO series contest is now over.

The top three finishers who will be getting bonus cash are the following

1. Milos Raonic 280
2. John Isner 200
3. Roger Federer 170

If Milos wins USO, he will get extra million; if big john wins, he will get extra half million
and if Roger wins, he will get extra quarter million.

Both Milos and John benefited due to the newly instituted doubling rule by participating
and gaining points in three or more USO series events. As per last year's rules,
the ordering would be

1. Roger Federer 170
2. Milos Raonic 140
3. John Isner 100

The new rules are a joke. Not that Roger needs any extra money anyway if he won but just saying.

Yup. Utterly clueless. As stated a few days, obviously he wants to play his home tournament but when it results in injury and potentially screwing his chances at the USO why bother playing. Not like he was gonna do much damage there anyway but he certainly hasn't helped his chances injuring his ankle.

He played there to make sure that his points get doubled. If he did not play there, his
points would not be doubled and he would not have finished in top three and would not
be eligible for any extra cash.

^ True but you can bet he'd like to have won and by making the final he'd have made sure of even less recovery time before the USO and he's now got a sprained ankle for his greed. All in all, not the most clever fella around.

Janowicz and Lu in the SF, after straight wins over Goffin and Seppi respectively.
Rosol also by Isner pulling out.
For the last SF spot, Querrey fights GG Lopez.

How poor JJ has fallen. Donald Young is 2 points ahead of him in the rankings.

To be fair, Isner is not of the class of players where the money is just incidental like Fed. That bonus is lot to those guys.

You know it's bad when ... Donald Young is ahead of you in the rankings.
