I'm looking forward to see Roger in another night session! That always provided some special atmosphere and a magical aura around the stands. Love it when he puts on some black shirts and is playing under the lights with darth vader score in the background. :D

Well, rats! There are a lot playing on Monday that I'd love to see, and I probably won't see them on Wed., since the USO drags the first week out so much.

Why is the weaker and also bottom half starting first?

I see that Tipsarevic was dispatched expressly from a top 10 to a parking lot.

Do you think both Fedal will get to quarters? I think they both play well these days. Pity one of them will have to fall off early.

I only see one landmine in that half of the draw, and that is Isner, and even then it is more like a M18 Claymore as opposed to a TM 46. That quarter most likely will happen.

nadal did not really play all that well in that final in cinci.

he did not return well and he played a little too far back.

but he knew he was going to snatch that match. isner is not really in his league.

if they meet again, it may not be too pretty. especially if nadal manages to get a handle on his serve.

nadal once played dr ivo on the grass of queens. dr ivo got his 37 aces and nadal got his win.

also I think isner has overplayed. it was somewhat cool in cinci.

it is burning up in new York.

Good to see you around, Mastoor! Yeah, I never understand how they decide to start these things, except at Wimbledon, where they always start the winners from last year first. And yes, the top half got the majority of the big road-blocks.

In slams other than Wimbledon, I believe they ask the top seeded player whether
they want to play on the opening day or not. Based on the answer they get, which half
plays in the opening day is determined.

Went to the US Open today.
Could see Roanic, Delpo, Berdych practicing there.
It was fun and lot of people came.
Have tickets for wednesday daytime. Looking forward to that.

Murat, enjoy your trip to USO second Tuesday. You will see good fourth round matches.
I will see that you get good weather on that day.

Mog, do you know if general admission ticket is a good option? I went to Semis the last two years but am thinking I should take general admission ticket this time (it excludes Arthur Ashe but covers Louis Armstrong) so that I can watch players closely. I know the big players are scheduled on Arthur Ashe but am hoping to see 'non Big4' closely. I am thinking of going on Sep 2nd, when I think they will play R4 matches from Roger/Rafa's half.

I had to google to be able to understand your post. I know nothing about landmines even though I was planting some school ones when I was at compulsory service in former Yugoslavia many years ago.

We will have some more blockbuster quarters, the one I am (not) looking forward to is Nole vs Delpotro.

Srini, I also don't like the Ashe stadium because it is very big as if watching from the sky. On 2nd you will have 4th round matches so you might get some big matches on small stadiums. But the problem with Armstrong is they have some reserved seats and tough to get in entry so easily. That is why I go in the first week to see more actions on outside courts and grandstand. if good matches are scheduled on Armstrong you might go early to get seats there. Ground pass not bad except Ashe.
Good luck.
