Just tuned into Iga v Ekaterina match, both ladies had their service game broken and Ekaterina has held her serve early in the 1st set
Iga breaks as Ekaterina DFs and she has consolidated the break leads 5-3, I must say the biggest improvement in Iga's game under Wim has been her serve,
Another DF by Ekaterina and Iga breaks and wins the 1st set 63
Iga gets a break and consolidates it and leads 4-1 2nd set, Ekaterina serve has let her down, she is thinking more about the return from Iga, than placement of her serve.
Another DF from Ekaterina and gives the break to Iga who will now serve for the match 5-1
Swaitak (2) d Alexandrova (13) 63 61
Iga will play the winner of Anisimova v Haddad Maia in the QF

Took awhile but Muchova served out the 1st set 63 over Kostyuk

I will SB this match from now on as I want to watch live Gauff v Osaka which is about to start on Ashe

Muchova getting treatment flat on her back, early in the 2nd set, play as resumed on serve

Tuned back into live the 2nd set Good God Kostyuk won the 2nd set 76(0)
Going 3, lets see if Muchova can reset she has gone off to a toilet break
Apparently the trainer who worked on Muchova's lower back early in the 2nd set, has worked magic, as Muchova looks like herself now, moving freely around the court, getting to the net, broke Kostyuk and has just consolidated the break
Muchova leads Kostyuk 4-1 3rd set, note Muchova has lost the 2nd set in all her matches so far at the USO
Phew! Muchova needed to save 5 BPs and she does it tough and holds and leads 5-2 3rd set
Muckova d Kostyuk 63 67(0) 63 to reach the QFs and will play Osaka in the QFs

Even though Gauff is down a break in the 1st set against Osaka, the good news it is not her serve, it is her fhand that is letting her down at present, Osaka has been targeting Guaff's fhand with results. A DF from Gauff hands Osaka the 1st set 63 ( of course just as I typed Gauff serve is not letting her down she has a DF)
Osaka wins the 1st set 63
Gauff is leaving the court for a toilet break, Gauff needs to address her UFE rate 16 in the 1st set, compared to Osaka's 5 UFE

Poor service game from Gauff and Osaka breaks and leads 4-2 2nd set, I feel Coco has to change things up and not let Osaka dictate and be on the front foot from the baseline, needs to bring Osaka in more when she gets the chance.
Osaka consolidates and leads 5-2 2nd set
The glaring factor in this match is the UFE rate from Coco 30 compared to Osaka 12. Gauff's fhand let her down in this match
Osaka d Gauff 63 62 to move into the QFs and will play the winner of Muchova v Kostyuk, nice hug at the net between Osaka and Gauff

Coco's after-match press conference showed she got some positives out of this loss to Naomi! She said she served well, got plenty of aces to go along w/ the double faults! Her UFE's were her undoing, but I didn't think she had the confidence to go all the way anyway! Her early rounds were sketchy I don't care what anyone says! I'm so glad Swiatek seems "to be back!" Since Wimbledon, she's been on a serious heater taking Cincy! Looking forward to seeing her get to the SF! :angry-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth::fearful-face::yawningface::astonished-face:

Just listen to Osaka press conference as she was hitting up in practice with Muchova at the USO, before the draw came out
Osaka said she hoped not to meet Muchova in the early rounds of USO but now she is facing Muchova in the QFs, I guess be careful what you wish for lol!
Osaka won their most recent match at the AO this year in 3 sets

Gauff said in her press conference,
"It was not the level that I wanted to bring, but it is a step in the right direction"
As I posted, Gauff's serve held up well, it was her UFE rate that was her undoing, over 30 especially off the fhand wing,
I also think Coco being her home tournament was under pressure, she showed that in her previous match when she sat down in the break and cried, though like all good players, she found a way to win, even ugly.Maybe today she was mentally drained.Big step to get a new coach on board just before a major, I know her serve will improve under Gavin MacMillion, and he can also help with the fhand, like he did with Aryna Sabalenka

I think it is safe to say Czech tennis is in a good place at the moment with 3 ladies Czech players making the QFs, Muchova, Vondrousova and Krejcikova ( also Jiri Lehecka in the mens draw main the QFs)

Watching a Rd 3 Ladies Doubles Match,
Williams/Fernandez WC vs Zhang/Alexandorva (12)
Venus and Leylah won the 1st set 63 and have a early break in the 2nd set, leading 3-1
Venus and Leylah move on as they won 63 64, they really are a good team, when you think they both paired up at the start of the doubles, never played with one another previously

I watched almost the whole match. They are fun and play better than I thought. Rooting for them since the beginning of the tournament.

They are fun to watch, though their next opponents probably will be the No 1 seeds of Siniakova/Townsend who are yet to play, that will test them, still they both are having fun while playing well together that is the main thing

Okay back from my medical appointment and tuning into the last ladies match
Wow Amanda handed Bea a bagel in the first set, just going into the 2nd set now
When Amanda plays first strike tennis it is just wonderful to watch
Bea needs to try to change the pace, Amanda is serving wonderfully and is up a break in the 2nd set
Amanda 4-3 and serving
A love service game from Amanda 5-3
Anisinova d Haddad Maia 60 63
Just great ball striking from Amanda one of the best performances of the ladies matches going into the QFs
Amanda will play Iga in the QFs a rematch of their final at Wimbledon ( hopefully with not the same score or outcome)

Top doubles seeds Siniakova/Townsend will play Venus and Leylah in the doubles QFs
Venus sent a message to her sister Serena
" My message to Serena is you need to show up" :)

My fault I thought they did, I have corrected it
I'm glad they're still in. I'll be honest, I don't think Sara being her coach is gonna elevate her game. She needs help beefing up that serve. Sara's serve is a cream puff, she wasn't really an aggressive returner and I can only see her helping Jaz w/ net play. She needs someone else to help w/ all the other stuff I mentioned. Besides, I'd like someone who has coached slam champions to help her w/ the mindset and approach. Someone who will maximize her strengths and minimize her weaknesses as a short player.

I know Jaz needs a coach that can help and beef up her serve, remember Barty didnt have a great serve, she wasnt tall either, then her serve improved out of sight, I take your point regarding Sara not really being a coach that can help with Jazz serve, I know the current coach of Jazz is just a fill in, lets see if Jazz appoints another coach before the end of the year.
