In just 28 mins Townsend wins the 1st set 61 over Krejcikova, Krejcikova has no rhythm at all in the first set, cant find the court with her shots, enabling Townsend to play her game freely and showcasing the variety in her game, unless Krejcikova finds her rhythm and can find her shots, this will be s 2 sets victory to Townsend
Bhand up the line from Taylor great change of direction and she has MP
Barbora finally found her 1st serve in this service game, MP saved, 5 games all
Taylor has to reset now in her service game after having MPs
How things can quickly change, Barbora breaks Taylor and will serve for the 2nd set 6-5, Taylor needs to go back to her game plan, though Barbora has lifted her game and is not making the UFE like she did in the 1st set
Well done Taylor she breaks Barbora, targeting her bhand wing and getting 3 UFE, 6 all TB
TB for the 2nd set
Taylor was down 1-3 in the TB comes back with 4 points in a row leading 5-3
Great serve from Taylor 6-3
Taylor with 3 MPs
Barbora saves 1 MP with a great fhand
Saves another with a serve fhand combo
Taylor with MP on her serve 6-5
No wide from Taylor 6 games all, Barbora with a good return
MP No 5 for Taylor
FH winner from Barbora 7all
Barbora rock solid on big points 8-7 with SP
Taylor saves SP as Barbora fhand found the net
Cross court fhand winner from Babora 2nd SP on her serve
Barbora's ROS wide
9 all, Tennis is a Crazy Sport!
SP No 3 for Barbora
Not to be Barbora's ROS finds the net
10 all
MP No 6 for Taylor as Barbora fhand long 11-10
11 all with a great bhand volley on the line by Barbora she has saved 6 MPs

Barbora finds another line and has SP No 14-13
Barbora saves 8 MPs and wins the 2nd set TB 76(13)

Tay had her chances. Babs appears dug in. I don't see her letting go of this now. I would be happy to be wrong.

I agree, Barbora hard to beat now and she has 2BPs and breaks the serve and will serve for the match 5-3

Between Tay and Anna, I don't know which one choked more.

Anna hands down, Iga was there for the taking, she had 3 chances to serve out a set and fail you dont deserve to play at this level
Anna needs a sports shrink for her mental instability ASAP, it is not the first time Anna has choked in matches
Taylor will learn, she didnt go away, Babora at this level is more experienced and it showed playing the big points

It was a shame, though she can take the positives she had in the singles defeating Andreeva and build for the rest of the seaon
Taylor is the No 1 doubles player at present and she is still in the doubles draw

No 1 player Sabalenka and defending champion, moves through to the QFs with a 61 64 win over Bucsa,
BTW,
Sabalenka reaching the QFs at the USO she has locked in the No 1 ranking ( for now)
Sablenka is the first player to reach 5 consecutive USO QFs since Serena Williams ( 2012-2016)

Rybakina vs Vondrousa into the 2nd set, both players playing well, the difference has been the serve?
Usually you would pick Rybakina with the better serve, but Marketa serve has been 'on' and percentage wise higher than Elena
Vondrousa 64 1st set
Elena has upped her 1st serve percentage early in the 2nd set, quite frankly she had to, Marketa DF and has handed the break to Elena early in the 2nd set
That break didnt last long as Marketa changed the pace on her return and used slices to break the rhythm and broke straight back.
4 games all 2nd set, as Marketa consolidated the break.
Marketa to me got too comfortable going up the middle and waiting to see what Elena would do? Marketa too passive and Elena breaks and wins the 2nd set 75
Going 3, Elena has tape around her left leg behind her left knee, though it dosent seem to hamper her movement.

Marketa went back to her original game plan, started playing aggressive tennis with angles, breaking up the rhythm of Elena's game and gets a early break in the 3rd set
Marketa leads 4-2 3rd set
Markets gets a double break and will serve for the match 5-2 and a place in the QFs
This is best match I have seen Marketa play in a long time and her reward with 3 unreturnable serves wins the match 64 57 62 and a place in the QFs
Not a bad match from Elena, she just ran into a Red Hot Marketa!

these are the highlights of:

Barbora Krejcikova vs. Taylor Townsend Highlights | 2025 US Open Round 4

Poor Taylor, had eight match-points and still fell short, you certainly can't help but feel bad for her:loudly-crying-face:

Hey what's worse according to you guys?

Loosing 6-0, 6-0 in a Grand Slam final (as what we saw with young american Amanda Anisimova)

Or...

Loosing a match when you had a bagful of match-points (in any round) ?

And....

why do you feel that way ?

Amanda Anisimova On-Court Interview | 2025 US Open Round 2

there's nothing available online regarding her third-round win, other than an eight minute vid available only on the Wide World of Sports channel in AU.

GO AMANDA !!!

I wanna see her do some damage and take out the US Open :yesyes:

Losing a GS final 60 60, personally speaking if I lost like that, it would take me awhile to get over it.
