Almost as if they thought, okay let's reboot this thing next year, Ray goes back to fixing Hollywood scandals and his family get to be dysfunctional again, but not all in the one storyline.

It was a great season, and the show is topnotch, but sometimes you need great tragedy too, like the way the Sopranos killed off main stars, and GoT does too. I thought that was gonna be Avi's fate, or Lena, but it would have been more potent if they capped one of the kids, who were basically sidelined anyway for the last six or seven episodes...

I agree with a lot of what you both have been stating..Ray's fate having a "Hollywood" ending didn't cut it for me. I agree one of the kids getting capped would had added some spice but it seems the only real suffering Ray ever experienced was when he was an alter boy:angel:..

As for Avi looking like death and a few weeks later coming out killing folks like he was some type of Charles Bronson tough guy didn't cut it for me. As for Lena, Ray may taken out before her because she is the shows other ultimate BADAZZ

We have no Walking Dead nuts here? I'm in season 4 now, it's incredibly exciting, great action sequences, cool badass characters. I should be fully up to speed before season 7 starts in less than 3 weeks... :popcorn

Finished House of Cards Season 1 - Top Quality. Just started watching Season 2. Season 2 of Narcos is on the immediate bucket list. Never watched Deadwood when it was on, so will look at this, and have Season 2 of Fargo waiting. So many good shows around these days.

@Mastoor mentioned Only Fools and Horses on another thread. This has to be my favourite sitcom of all time - Superb writing... Not sure how it would translate for American viewers (probably not too well - very British and lots of British slang). Nobody knows it in Australia, but I guess it was exported successfully to NZ.

Only Fools and Horses is one of 3 favourite sitcoms along with Seinfeld and 2.5 men (first 8 seasons with Charley Sheen). It is incomprehensible to me that there were only 2 countries where they understood Only Fools and Horses, one of which doesn't exist anymore, former Yugoslavia.

I have all of the 3 sitcoms on dvds and watch them over and over again. Plan on buying Citizen Smith complete which I never watched but I've been waiting for special edition which is announced for next year to be released. Power to the people!

Me too! I'm a huge Attenborough fan. Something so soothing about his voice. I'll watch nature shows all day if I could. Nat Geo is probably my favourite channel of all

When did he appear? When I was a kid, there was a show called Survival and later in the 80s couple of shows with a host called David Bellamy, so I was surprised to learn earlier this year that there is someone called Attenborough very famous for animal shows.

Attenborough has been around longer than David Bellamy.

Bellamy has kind of disappeared, largely because he is a man-made climate change sceptic.

It surprises me because all my life I thought every British biology show was presented by Belamy.

As for Global warming I agree with him. At least NZ or Auckland if you like gets colder and colder every year. We even have Russians and Canadians who live here and say this is a cold country, while Indians sometimes walk in ski jackets around the offices.

I'm a bit of sceptic myself to be honest. I believe in climate change but think man's input is fairly minimal compared to nature... and there has been climate change throughout time regardless of what mankind does... ice ages and all.

Bellamy was a pretty well-known name in the 80s and 90s on Biology but not really on the same level as Attenborough, although Attenborough was more of a wildlife presenter. Bit of trivia... Attenborough's brother was Dickie Attenborough, the movie guy who made Jurassic Park and a bunch of other movies.

Okay, so season 6 of The Walking Dead was brilliant, leading up to the introduction of Negan, the greatest villain of the comic books, apparently. Jeffrey Dean Morgan drafted in to play the baddie, and he was exceptional in last night's season 7 opener.

But.

He killed two main characters, a left-over cliffhanger from season 6. We all knew it was coming. The interweb was ablaze with theories, and partly misery because they played the old cliffhanger card, rather than showing us who was killed at the end of season 6.

But.

It was too gory. Too explicit and bloody and there was dripping ketchup everywhere, cartoon eyeballs bulging, cleaved open skulls, from which a beloved character uttered their final words: "suck my nuts."

But it was too much. That scene, which we all waited for, was played too heavy, to the extent that it was kind of an assault on the audience as much as anything. I thought, the missus won't like this, and I told her about it, and she said she won't watch it. It's not only not for the squeamish, but they filmed it in such a way as to make us feel they were gleefully torturing us. Torture porn, it's been accurately described as.

Then, once that scene was over - and don't underestimate the fact that for all the gore, they really only achieved the feat of remindingh us that it's all playacting in costumes and make-up after all - the rest of it was harrowing, and brilliant. I look forward to the rest of the season, but if this is going to be a constant direction, I really don't know if it's the right one.

Amazing performances by Morgan as Negan, and Andrew Lincoln as Rick, the suddenly impotent and scared hero of the show...

it crossed my mind that the surname is somehow related to Gandhi movie so I went to wikipedia and found that it was directed by that one you mentioned. The name was somehow at the back of my mind all the time.

I'm going to get to Narcos at some point too. May end up being in October though, too busy right now.

Not sure if I asked before but does anyone watch Ray Donovan? That show has gotten phenomenal over the last 2 seasons (2 episodes left in season 4) and the first 2 seasons were very good as well. Amazing acting, particularly from Liev Schreiber, Jon Voight and the guy who plays Ray's brother with Parkinson's disease. Highly recommended

I watched first 3 seasons of Ray Donovan and then somehow I missed the start of 4th season and haven't watched any of it yet. It must be a short attention span or something, but this is not the first series that I started to watch and after a few seasons just stopped. Are Ray and his wife still married? What is old Donovan up to? LOL

I guess we all watched Survival when we were kids. I searched on YouTube and you can find some of the episodes when you type: Opstanak. Some that I saw there were narrated by Orson Welles.

I know. they used famous actors as narrators. That's why I thought the Attnborough is an actor who just narrates, but apparently, his brother is a famous actor/director while he is a biologist. I've just never heard of him til this year.

As for Belamy, don't you remember him from the 80s? I remember another show that he had with couple of other scientists, one of which was called Magnus Pyke or something. I don't know why I remember everything useless.
