Key points I drew out of it were:
A study conducted by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) in 2013 showed that 45% of the 13,736 players at all professional levels of the sport earned nothing from it, and only about 10% covered their costs.
Research also indicated the top 50 players earned 60% of the total prize money pool; 51-100 won over $200,000, 101-200 received $90,000, while players close to and above the #356 ATP ranking spot were able to “break evenâ€.
Seems to be more top-heavy than I imagined. Now clearly with team sports, the wealth will be spread around a lot more and there is a lot of money at various tiers of football (soccer), but I wonder how comparable a sport like Golf would be?
