The mystery is over. Meldopova is spending a total of two weeks at Harvard. Obviously, she will not get any degree. She may get some kind of certificate though.

These short courses are usually a way by which universities make money. While the quality of education given is good in these short courses, they don't really bother seriously examining and evaluating students.

That won't work as she does not open her emails and read them. :laydownlaughing

You mean the certificates they print in PowerPoint?

Meldopova/her groupies are not allowed to sell Sugarpova Candies/Choclates at Wimbledon.

Maria Sharapova's doping suspension isn't just harming her tennis ambitions -- it's also hurting her ability to sell her candy and chocolate. Her Sugarpova sweets come in bags with names such as 'sassy', 'flirty', 'smitten', 'spooky' and 'quirky', though right now she might be reaching for one marked 'sour'.

For the past couple of years, the Siberian has had a pop-up Sugarpova Candy Lounge in Wimbledon Village during The Championships. But, after taking a stroll up the hill from the All England Club and peering through the window, the Wimbledon Diary can confirm that the site is empty. There's not even any sign at the front or inside the shop that Sharapova's company had previously used the premises.

At a time when many of the shops in the Village are decorated with tennis balls and rackets, and when the cafes and restaurants are enjoying their high season, it's startling to see such prime retail space not in use.

Meldopova was apparently hanging out within 5 miles of Wimbledon village. Apparently, she is studying business at a "branch" of Harvard University near Wimbledon. She may have to travel often to Switzerland often which is the head quarters of CAS. Perhaps, this was because of that. Perhaps, she was also trying to sell Sugarpova at Wimbledon during the tourney. However, the tourney organizers did not allow her to peddle there.

The final verdict should be out within a week as they agreed to a deadline of July 18th.

Having trained in FL as a youngster, I am sure she has a high school degree, but nothing beyond that. Even the high school degree has no true value because athletes don't really study or learn anything. They spend a required number of hours per week sitting in class.

I am surprised Austin said Pova is smart. There are many, many people who did not go far in school yet are smart (Andy Murray and Davenport being examples), but Pova is not one of them.

So true about the hs diploma. The AA degree is now = to a BS and the BS is = to the master's degree...etc.

So, the decision date is now set to Sep. 19th. Even if they allow Maria to play from that date onwards (highly unlikely), fairly good amount of damage is done already as Maria was forced to mis RG, Wimby, Olympics and USO in the meantime. Further, there is no way she can qualify for WTF this year after having missed all of these, even if she is allowed to play from Sep. 19th and so she would have to miss that as well.

But, I do hope CAS stick to 2 year ban or reduces it to ban until end of 2017.

I can't find it but I think Tossip mentioned that Pova may be the result of steroid use since childhood, I think it may be a lot of validity to this. Russia has a history of doping up their gymnastic teams(men and females) at an age younger than 10. Maybe there's no proof but there is some fire behind that smoke.

Shamil has a way of planting stories in the media in an attempt to manipulate the process. Meldopova may be back, but you should certainly not trust Shanil's statements in this regard.

I don't trust any news that comes out of Moscow. He made a statement there and he's backed it up with absolutely zilch...
