I thought it could happen, Verdasco looked good to me earlier this year and last night he looked impressive, just forcing Zverev back so far. Zverev does not seem so happy against really heavy hitters. He got frustrated against Kyrgios and again today. He looked bitterly upset, very hard to come off a big win to the French and go out in the first match. But Verdasco looked so happy, I am pleased for him. Another older player showing there is life after 30!

I'm happy for Verdasco, too. He's super when he gets his game and his head together on the same day. They said that he hasn't missed a major since he started playing them in 2003. Something like 59 straight?

I guess I do too! I have been liking Zverev since 2015. I saw him at Stoke Park, a grass exhibition tournament near Heathrow. Novak and Nadal often play there as the grass courts are brilliant and the timing is right for Wimbledon preparation. Zverev made mincemeat of Novak and although it's a pretty lighthearted affair it was a bit humiliating for Novak. I hadn't seen Zverev before but I've been looking out for him ever since.

As I always say the draw doesn't mean anything, only the players have the last word. Some people are dreaming with "pregnant little birds" (Spanish expression) when they think that every time one young player beats one of the four top then he will be soon #1 and is going to win the next GS.....wrong like many times we have seen

I think you can take Murray and Thiem off the board now! Andy's dropping a set early and Thiem, like A. Zverev is playing well, but with success comes nerves and exhaustion! Sasha going out to Verdasco has to be a shock to the Z-camp, but not to people in the know like us! Having the match broken up overnight didn't help Sasha! I'm more caught up in the news here in DC and haven't watched much of the tennis! Brown and Monfils playing in the background as I post this quick note to let people know I'm still alive!

Well, it depends how each one wants to see it, both achievements are incredible good but like the article says to win RG is not easy at all, some of the greatest players never could make it

Haha, not really. 10 titles at RG is great, but it isn't in the same league as a calendar Slam. "10" is just a number - it is 9 + 1. Rafa already won more RG titles than any player has won of any Slam. Not sure why 10 is so magical.

Also, the rarity of winning RG is far over-stated. Actually, of the four Slams it probably has more one-Slam wonders, and maybe more players winning it overall. That doesn't make it harder to win. It is a specialist thing - most players are either significantly better or worse on clay.
