There is a Nadal-Kyrgios third rounder that may or may not be interesting...

I doubt it will be close, but you can always dream. Isn't this Kyrgios's first tournament since his grandfather's death? Who knows how into it he may be. No offense to Nadal but we all know that none of the younger generation get hyped to play him like they do Federer. I'm still laughing at the Miami match because Roger shrugged off some of Kyrgios's trick shots and attempted SABR but there were a couple of times when Roger flat out shocked the hell out Kyrgios and he just stared at Roger like, "Why is this old man still able to run down\hit these shots?"

Oh, we're all still wondering how "this old man" is suddenly making Viagra seem like a sleeping tablet. :dodgy:

But how have you worked it out that "we all know that none of the younger generation get hyped to play [Nadal] like they do Federer?" What're you basing this on?

I'm not sure I agree that they are more pumped to face Federer but it is possible as most of the Next Gen count Federer as their favorite player growing up.

And I still love the saltiness about Federer. Bro, you're a Nadal fan, you think that dude has been clean his whole career and Roger is the cheater :cover Just Youtube Aussie Open 2005 and compare that to Miami 2005 about three months later when he morphed from barely a top 50 player into by far the 2nd best player in the world. And how about someone who goes from looking like an NFL linebacker at age 20 to average size by age 26. That ain't normal my friend. What's that they say about people living in glass houses?

You can both stop this nonsense, or at least take it to the appropriate thread rather than hijacking this one.

Quite right, MJT! A legitimate confab between me and Busted gets derailed by brother Darth's Chuck-like emotions. ;)

As for the science of whether younger players loved Federer more than any other players - leave alone the notion that they "try harder" against him - this is just loose yap until the main event really gets going. FFS has won today, to fix up another match with Rafa. During Rafa's hideous run of form in 2015, FFS clicked 3 W's against him, and in fact became something of a temporary bogey figure, although in that same terrible year, Rafa beat him twice. Now Rafa looks more secure against him, some of their matches have been tetchy affairs, but this one still has the potential to boil over into something interesting...

Fed running down that drop shot in the 2nd at 4-all and flicking it cross court past Kyrgios and Krygios staring at him - and Roger calming walking away back to the baseline still cracks me up. But...these guys don't get all agog when they play Nadal so it'll be clay court business as usual for Nadal. But who knows, maybe Kyrgios will surprise me and do more than show up - if he makes it to the 3rd round.
None of the younger generation gets hyped to play him like they do Federer

This is absolutely not true

I have a suspicion it might not be as good as last weeks episode "the Golden Frog" however GOT was able to follow up the Battle of the Bastards with a fantastic season finale last spring .

As many as 8 top 40 players are not playing in Madrid. One of them everybody knows. Here are some others: Gasquet, JMDP, Sam Querry, John Isner, Steve Johnson. The Americans generally sit out the clay season and so it is not much of a surprise. JMDO is probably due to grand pa's death. I don't know what is up with Gasquet. Is he injured?

Tignor jinxes Rafa . But, if Rafa loses early here and then wins Rome, that will only be good for Rafa, especially if he defeats Novak somewhere along the way.

Let's hope Tignor also picks Rafa to win his opener and the jinx works straight away.... :devil

He didn't pick a winner in Barcelona, and he picked Djoker to beat Stan in Monte Carlo... :laydownlaughing
