About Miami:

Greater Miami is the 4th largest metropolitan area in the US, and a great host to cultural and sporting events. It has a Fashion Week, an Art Basel and a big music industry. Art-Deco South Beach is the place to see and be seen. Boutique hotels, high-end restaurants. Bring your bling.

The conditions in Miami are faster than IW,should suit players like Serena,Garbine,Kvitova,Venus Williams,Pliskova. Will wait to see the draw first before making any selections.

My understanding is that the conditions are slower. Certainly the weather makes them slower. The humidity keeps the balls from flying as they do in the dry desert air.

This is fairly wide open IMO. Should be a good tournament with a really strong field. Looking forward to it.

That's a good scalp for Heather Watson, Sloane has been playing well recently.

Simona beginning to feel her way back into a bit of form after a torrid start to the season.

Dominika Cibulkova falls short at the business end of another tight match. She's struggled in the clutch since that tight loss to Sloane Stephens earlier in the year.

I guess Venus Williams is the biggest name casualty for some, but Carla Suarez Navarro and Sara Errani also got early exit tickets.

Johanna Konta is looking like she will join the winners - in the process of closing out her second round in straight sets.

The Venus match was very up and down. She was having one of her bad days. Muguruza d. Cibulkova was entertaining. Good win by Garbiñe, who hasn't always gotten out of holes, of late.
