The Tournament:

The Cincinnati Masters or Cincinnati Open (branded as the Western & Southern Open for sponsorship reasons) is an annual outdoor hardcourt tennis event held in Mason, Ohio, a suburb of Cincinnati. The event started on September 18, 1899, and is the oldest tennis tournament in the United States that is still played in its original city.

The tournament is the second largest summer tennis event in the U.S. after the US Open, as its men's event is one of the Masters 1000 tournaments on the ATP Tour, and its women's event is one of the WTA 1000 events on the WTA Tour.

About Cincinnati:

Cincinnati is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Hamilton County. Settled in 1788, the city is located at the northern side of the confluence of the Licking and Ohio rivers, the latter of which marks the state line with Kentucky. The city is the economic and cultural hub of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. With an estimated population of 2,265,051, it is Ohio's largest metropolitan area and the nation's 30th-largest, and with a city population of 309,317, Cincinnati is the third-most populous city in Ohio after Columbus and Cleveland, and 65th in the United States. Throughout much of the 19th century, it was among the top 10 U.S. cities by population, surpassed only by New Orleans and the older, established settlements of the United States eastern seaboard, as well as being the sixth-most populous city from 1840 until 1860.

Venus Williams who received a wild car defeated in straight sets 64 64 by Bouzas Maneiro who did make the QFs in Monteral, Vee too many UFE and her serve let her down today in the match

Vicky Mboko has withdrawn from Cincy, wise decision
Osaka was also wihdrawn from Cincy she has been hounded by the press with her lack of comments not recognizing Vicky Mboko in her runners up speech in Monteral.
Both players will have LL taking their places

I forgot to post this news earlier
Caroline Garcia who was supposed to retire after RG, she got married recently and decided to play a few more tournaments this year, she was granted a wild card for Cincy and played Kartal the GBR player and won in 3 sets 57 64 63

Saturday 9th August,
Top seeds play their first round matches,
Swiatek (3) Sabalebka (1) Defending champion, Keys (6) Anisimova (5) Rybakina (9), now that Rybakina's former coach got his banned lifted as he appealed , he can now coach Rybakina, I will be interested to see if he turns up in Cincy or wait to the USO, regardless he has been in phone contact with Rybakina which was allowed since he first received the 1 year ban for abuse from the WTA

Jeanjean withdrew so Anisimova (5) got a walkover to the next round

Sefano Vukov has wasted no time getting back to coach Elena Rybakina, after he had his ban lifted from the WTA he was on the court with Rybakina, as she was doing her warm up also David Sanguinetti on the court.

Rybakina struggling at present against Zarazua lost the 1st set 64 and then found her game in the 2nd set 60 and now 4 all in the 3rd
Rybakina wins 75 in the 3rd set
Vukov in dark sunnies and a dark cap watched on in the box, Elena asked him to leave the box when she lost the 1st set he stayed on
I dont have much sympathy for Elena she wanted Vukov back and even when he was her coach last year before the break up she told him to Shut Up many times

Watching Jaz v Maria Sakkari
A messy match so far, more UFE than winners from both players.Jaz was leading 5-1 and now Maria has broken back twice to get back on serve serving at 4-5
5 games all now 1st set
6 games all now TB for the 1st set.
A disciplined TB from Jazz, too many UFE from Maria, after she got her self back in the 1st set
Jaz wins the 1st set 76(2)
Jaz your killing me now you were leading 6-0 in the 2nd set TB and let Maria back in 5-6, Maria had a DF and lost count yourself lucky
Paolini d Sakkari 76(2) 76(5)
