This is essentially Rafa's home event, and it's hard not to see him take the title here.

Would be nice to see Murray make the final, though. Recent form is not encouraging, but he's too good a player not to get out of this slump sooner rather than later ...

Good to see that he's not afraid to take a wildcard and take on Rafa on home soil, as well!

Without making a final since Qatar, Murray needs the practice and the points! Lets not be too altruistic giving him props on imaginary realities! :puzzled :nono  :dodgy: :cover

Damn it, my countryman Monteiro was leading Daniel Evans 4x0 in the third and managed to lose. At 5-5, he had 0-30 on Evans serve, had a bit of bad luck on a net cord to go 15-30, missed a quite doable overhead to let it even out at 30 all. Still had break points on that game but went to tie break and lost.

I didn't realise the centre court is named after Nadal! Well deserved of course, but a bit odd while he's still playing?

Agreed, usually they put the names after those players are already retired

Centre Court of Barcelona is named since now Rafa Nadal. I'm surprised that they have decided to put his name now when usually they do when the player is already retired like Madrid, RG, USO, AO etc

So, Almagro is back in action and won a match. Also, Montanes, a clay court specialist, who got a WC into the tourney won against GGL. Albert once even defeated Federer in Estoril. Hope both these dirt devils find some momentum.

I dunno if the centre court underwent huge renovations at some stage, which almost cried out for a new big name on the plaque on the wall, but it is unusual while he's still playing - and it's also thoroughly deserved....

Yeah, i suppose they couldn't put someone else's name on it and then take it off in a few years when Rafa retires.

Still, it's got to feel funny, both to him and his opponents ...

Maybe they were naming after "Toni" Nadal since he will be devoted to the Nadal tennis academy instead of traveling so much with Rafa:snicker

P.s. We all know the Nadal Academy is in Mallorca ;)

There used to be a lot more stadium courts on clay that were known as Rafa Nadal's court, let's hope he's on his way to reclaiming the lot of 'em... :devil

Sasha has thoroughly butchered this match w/ Nico. On serve in the decider 4-4 after Sasha was down a break twice in this set.

Ha, quite true! Not sure RG will rename Philippe Chatrier though!
